Lagos, Kano Maintain Lead In Number Of Voters, As Voters Hit 84,004,084 by Sanromeo(m): 10:30am On Jan 08, 2019
The voters register presented by the Independent National Electoral Commission to political parties in Abuja on Monday has shown that Lagos and Kano states have maintained the lead in the number of registered voters.

In the breakdown, INEC says a total of 84,004,084 Nigerians will vote in the elections.

Out of the over 84 million voters, Lagos State accounts for 6.6 million while Kano has 5.5 million voters.

In 2015, Lagos and Kano states recorded 5.8 million and 5.0 million respectively.

The analysis of the voter register shows South-South has 12,841,279 voters.

Others are South East (10,052,236); South-West (16,292,212); North-West (20,158,100); North-East (11,289,293); and North-Central (13, 366,070).

Female voters constitute 47.14 per cent, which is 39,598,645 voters; while male voters constitute 52.85 per cent, which is 44,405,439 voters.

Youths (18-35) constitute 51.11 per cent, which is 42,938,458 voters; while the middle aged (36-50) constitute 29.97 per cent, which is 25,176,144.

The elderly (51-70) constitute 15.22 per cent, which amounted to 3,100,971 voters; while the old (70+) constitute 3.69 per cent, which is 3,100,971 voters.

Yakubu stressed that INEC had printed and delivered the PVCs to all the states for collection by registered voters, but regretted that millions of cards had yet to be collected.

He stressed that smart card readers would be used to accredit voters for the 2019 General Elections.

Because you have people living in clusters In the south due to size of the region Compared to the northern part which has a very large land mass.

One thing a lot of people miss when they say "North" is that Kogi Benue Taraba kwara are all in the "North" but Oyo is in the "SOuth"

From a geographical perspective. Oyo is more in the North than Benue. The most Northern point of Oyo is at a higher latitude than than of Kogi.

Have you taken the procreation rate, education and religious factors into cognizance too? You would be shocked! A young man of 25years with two wives 7 kids already having a target of hitting 12 before the age of 30.

During the 2006 census a household in Zaria had 28 children on ground with 3 wives. The shocked official, in protest argued that he shouldn't include his neighbors kids. Guess what? This old man laughed mirthlessly, and replied I divorced my fourth wife some few months back and she left with two infants and I have six already married as if he was expecting to be praised. This I witnessed live!

So you see not everything is a scam. The point is that, most of it are from the less educated ones who even see procreation as competition / more hands on the farm and sadly they can hardly cater for these kids.

Because of huge landmass. If you calculate voter per square kilometre north will carry last and SE with be first

Niger is 80% desert. People only live in southernmost parts bothering nigeria and many have moved to Nigeria because they have nothing.

Well, distance from the sea should be a better parameter in this instance, than altitude.
Benue may be at a similar latitude to oyo, but Oyo is closer to the coast. The length of land from Nigeria's coastline in the south towards the northern tip of al the southern states are relatively similar.

Better parameter of what exactly? What has distance to sea got to do with population in Oyo?
Sorry you are not making sense

The concept of North and south applies t countries in the geographical centre of AFrica like central African republic and Zambia

What has the location of Kogi, Kwara or Benue in relation to Oyo got to do with the population in each of them?
It was you who brought up locations in a thread talking about population figures.

I was just following up on your earlier post as per what could be considered northern or Southern in the Nigerian context.

In gegraphy North is determined by latitude FULL STOP

Point A is more or less northern than point B based on latitude. That has ALWAYs been the case

So "can be considered" is NONSENSE. it is a matter of geographical fact what is more northern or more southern. It is not subject to debate or "consideration" rather a simple matter of geographical coordinates

It is a technical matter of factuality with regard to what is more northern geographically

The point about Kogi Kwara or benue is simple if you take time to comprehend.

It is that along with Oyo they are geographically in the south

It is a simple calculation

Mark the Northenmost point and southernmost points by way of latitude and divide by two with the latitude that runs through the middle .
There is no basis for your distance to sea mularkey in Geography

You are just getting your briefs up in a tight bunch over nothing, mind you, I won't hv even known about this thread but for the fact that you quoted me first. That being said, yes N or S is geography in the strictest, but unless you think everything in the world is painted in Black and White then you should probably give your previous ideas about "what should be considered what" a good rethink.

Greece is Considered a part of the "Western World", however it is geographically on the same longitude as Serbia which is considered nothing Western. Humans are the ones who define what is considered what, not some arbitrary point on a compass, because guess what..... Even the definition of what is North differs in Geography and the Magnetic North is different from the geodetic North. You seem to think North and South can simply be defined by dividing the geographical map of Nigeria by a ruler and labelling what falls where as such, forgetting other factors. Nigeria is not a plain shaped polygon or some 3D shaped multilateral. Look at the map, the borders are irregular. The Southernmost point of France is more southern than that of Croatia. Yet Croatia is considered Southern Europe, while France is not.

Once again, your bringing of Geography of North and South into a thread about voters' population per state is still puzzling. More puzzling is the fact that you get quoted on it (since you brought it up), and you then act like you have no idea what is being talked about.Besides, strictly speaking Oyo is in the SW and not just plain South, so what was your point exactly? ?
