One dangerous trend on Nairaland is the penchant with which some misinformed and disgruntled children of hatred from a certain region of this country try to demonize any Nigerian leader being discussed on this Forum. It doesn't matter if the leader is Awolowo, Ahmadu Bello, Gen Gowon, Maj Adaka Boro, Brig Benjamin Adekunle, Gen Mohammed Shuwa, Ogbemudia, Saro-Wiwa, MKO Abiola, Buhari and of course, their hate figure, Bola Tinubu. The OP has listened to propaganda for so long and wrote this hatefilled article to disparage the late Human and Environmental Activist, Ken Saro-Wiwa. 1) Saro Wiwa never attended UNN ,Nsukka rather he attended the University of Ibadan. He was a junior Lecturer at UNN at the outbreak of the Civil war. 2) Saro-Wiwa was appointed the CIVILIAN Administrator of Bonny Island (like a LGA chairman) during the war and later Commissioner in Rivers State after the war. It was Ukpabi Asika that was appointed by the FG as the Administrator of East Central State to replace Ojukwu. 3) Most of the Biafran prontagonists only look at issues from their own points of views. They often attack other people whose views do not allign with their own. Anyone who doesn't support Biafra is labeled a backstabber, betrayer or traitor and during the war were called 'Sabos' and were often eliminated. Their approach to Political issues is authoritarian...no contrary views are permitted. Saro-Wiwa didn't support Buafra but this doesn't necessarily mean he hated Igbos. 4) The Pro Abacha Ogoni-4 faction of MOSOP were killed by Irate Mob attack on May 21, 1994 but Saro-Wiwa was denied entry into Ogoniland by the Police on that same day. He was never near the Gokana palace where the attack took place. However, Saro-Wawa's harsh criticism (similar to IPOB and Nnamdi Kanu's style) against the moderate elders who were less militant against the Government casted the Ogoni chiefs in very negative lights before the youths. The members of the National Youth Council of Ogoniland became very angry when the police denied their freedom fighter and Hero, Saro-Wiwa entry into Ogoniland to address an anti Government rally and vented their anger on the elders, killing four chiefs in the process. Mohammed Kobani narrowly escaped by running into a shrine ,considered holy by the community. Abacha, who wanted scape goats to demonstrate the might of his unpopular Junta as well as once and for all silence the agitation in Ogoniland by Saro-Wiwa and his MOSOP which had grown from an irritant to an obstacle quickly used the unfortunate incident to hang the murders of these chiefs on Saro-Wiwa and his faction of MOSOP. He flew in executioners from Sokoto to Port Harcourt to hang the 9 people convicted by his Special Tribunal (no opportunity for proper, let alone fair trial in normal courts up to Supreme Court) for murder on Nov-10, 1995 in ways that terrified the Nation. The message was loud and clear...a new strong Military dictator is in power and all oppositions will be brutally crused! 3 Likes |

otuekong1: oga go n do research. jaja was very successful in bonny, and this brought great envy upon him. the bonny guys were scared that he may be king someday(an igbo man becoming king in bonny). so there was a revolt, then he left with a good number of factional bonny major familes. he went to the outskirt area, uninhabited. in fact, the bonny people thought he'll come back begging to return to bonny island. but as fate would have it, the area he went to was actually the entrance to niger delta through the atlantic ocean. guess what, king jaja now had exclusive and front row seat to maritime business with the europeans. bonny was dwarfed, n in fact king jaja controlled trade in the whole of the delta. this actually led to the influx of igbos en mass into the delta region. 3 Likes |

I remembered the first time I heard the story of Wiwa. I actually felt so angry till the point I began boycotting Shell. Wouldn't buy gas from them and although one man action wouldn't impact them, I still felt the need to do that in protest. The fucking day I read about Sero-wiwa is the day i learned that Karma does exist and she's truly a bitch. Sero Wiwa was among the people who literally went around pointing out who's Igbo to Niggerian soliders. Literally, the evil that man bestowed on Igbo, especially the Oyigbo/Asa people, that live close to Ogoni was immense. Ironically, the same people he ran with are the same set of people that slaughtered him like a chicken. Likewise, Ogoni's entire territory has been destroyed by oil degradation and not one single politician seems to care while Oyigbo LGA who also have the same amount of oil as them as well as reside next to them territory isn't even remotely as damaged as Ogoni despite both areas is being exploited for oil by the west. If that right there is not Karma, I don't know what it is. The evil one does comes back tens fold. Ken Saro-Wiwa death was poetic justice. May he continue to rot in hell 3 Likes |

You are a born Liar! Awolowo was incarcerated from 1962-1967 and he was not holding any Government post, so how did he sponsored Adaka Boro's secession in conjunction with Sardauna his arch enemy in 1966? Most Igbo commentators on this Forum strongly believe all propaganda they were told by their parents/uncles about other Nigerians and come here to propagate such as the gospel truths without investigating the veracity of such stories. Ikechunna: Nawa ooo.. These Yoruba people can sink so low to deny their ancestors just to achieve what they can't achieve offline.. The way he's using "south southerner" and "Igbos" in the same sentence shows he has never left his enclave. Who doesn't know that Igbos are still part of SS? Very unfortunate set of people.. For someone to spend so much time on this thread shows how desperate he's is.. I suspected his antics when he started supporting Yoruba against Igbos. Yes, even if we have internal issue with some minorities, no sane SS minority will chose Yoruba ahead of igbos except itshekiri people,(Still under scrutiny sef) Even their Edo so called cousins always distance themselves from them.. Now the clown had to claim Akwa Cross those who are very close to Igbos and stayed with us through thick and thin before and after the war.. Even after the war, Effing still maintained his stand on Biafra, which his Son today still carry Biafra matter for head. Some of those clowns that are impersonating SS minorities should go learn and study the people they want to impersonate before embarrassing themselves on a social media, else they will always get disgrace they seek for like the clown on this thread.. Look for another SS minority to impersonate, study them very well before playing your game not people of Akwa Cross.. If you see any Akwa Cross person issue with Igbo, it must be a personal something which is applicable even in families.. It can never be political. Finally, I apologize to SS minorities that might find my initial comment offensive.. Afonja should put their house in order if they can.. It's not our fault that they are not United hence their effort and envy to divide others.. Yoruba Christians Vs Yoruba Muslim Anifere divided into two, which can never happen in Ohaneze or among Arewa. Ife and Modakeke.. They don't marry each other uptill today .. Even Osibanjo had to distance himself from Yoruba Muslims when the rumour had it that his daughter is getting married to a Muslim.. This wil tell you how terrible things are for them. I can't imagine the pain they are facing in that their enclave because of religion. 2 Likes |

Your reasoning is quite funny sir. Why do you people see ENEMIES everywhere? Every tribe is forging ahead, seeking for it's own advancement within and outside this country, nobody have time to be screaming perpetually 'they are against us, they hate us, they don't want us' I hardly see or hear youths from minority tribes like Nupe,Jukun, Tiv or Kanuri coming online to lament about other Nigerians being their 'Enemies'. Any region can be better than another. It's a proven fact all over the world. mrvitalis: 1 Like |

otuekong1: Such a sillly analogy. If at all this is the tact Igbos employ, does that equate them with fulanis? Seriously? So, you're trying to tell me that fulanis bring trade, then marry the indigenous women, then bring their kinsmen, and then claim your land? Hehehe. What a slowpoke. Let me ask you this: Do fulanis pay for the lands they claim after settling there? No. But Igbos buy lands wherever they reside. Do fulanis live peacefully with their hosts? No. But Igbos do. Sure, Igbos may invite their kins after they settle and their business has a firm footing. This is the most brotherly thing anyone can do. Every property occupied by Igbos in Rivers State were bought with their money from their own sweat. Apart from the indigenous Igbos who originated from parts of Rivers and who own lands, Igbos who migrated there bought land from the wretched and lazy muthafuckas of which you and your people most likely belong to. Do you think your lowly opinion of Igbos matter to anyone apart from your tiny, wretched ethnic rats? Your hatred and jealousy means nothing. Actually, I want your type to continue hating Igbos more. Igbos thrive when there's opposition. |
