Update On ASUU Strike by Omnivalent(m): 6:28pm On Jan 12
ASUU had rejected the federal government's offer saying they won't receive peanuts from the federal government.
During the last meeting between FG and members of ASUU, 15.4 billion was released by the federal government to ASUU for payment of the short fall salaries of lecturers, and another 20 billion was approved by president buhari. so arrangement were being made to ensure these money get to ASUU today being Saturday, but the shocking news reaching us from ASUU, UNIBEN CHAPTER says ASUU president rejected the money and insisted that the complete 1.1 trillion must be paid for the revitalization of public universities, and the minimum they can accept is 220 billion, so judging by this, am beginning to suspect that Prof. Biodun has been bribed to tarnish buhari's government just to give way to opposition parties. If not, why had ASUU decided to embark on strike on election period, they have an hidden agenda and they aren't fighting for any just cause. No one should gamble with the education of our children with their selfish political interest.
While the strike still continues, some wise institutions such as LAUTECH, Abia state university, KASU, MAPOLY, OAU, etc, had break out of ASUU strike and urges their students / lecturers to return to class as from 14th, so what is UNIBEN still waiting for. Some universities had discovered that ASUU is only fighting for their own selfish interest and as a result, these universities and polytechnics break out of the strike and asked their students to resume immediately, while those having exams can come and write. the management of these institutions are saying ASUU is too small for them to handle.
