My name is Alvin, have had this serious issue for years now since 2010 to be precise when I first visited a brothel. And for 8yrs now have found myself always going there. The money have spent there alone is enough for an average Nigerian to start a lucrative business. There's no month that passes without me visiting a brothel sometimes three times a week. This has affected everything about my life, from my studies, to career, to business to relationships. I feel so inferior when I stand before people especially ladies because I am not even bold to ask them out. Have done everything to within my power to stop this, from taking decision to discipline myself to even doing three days dry fasting to locking myself at home sometimes. Any city I go to in two weeks I may virtually know all the brothels there cos that's one thing I look out for. I even prefer to go there to have sex with a prostitute than to sex with a cheerful giver My life is in a serious mess right now cos am deteriorating mentally. The only thing still left in me is that am free from any STD's. Please what can I do to come out of this addiction. I need help Nairalanders, Please don't insult me cos am crying out for help. I need suggestions.

You just have to see brothel as your worst enemy. When you go there again,just sit, watch, any girl you see you take them as ur sister. With this you will always find that place as awkward.



Or you can be attending church programs/vigil. There is a kinda spirit it draws a feeling of being pioused.

I found out that with any addiction it doesn't always work when you try to stop it all at once except for a strong miracle.

1.Always start with reducing the frequency. If you did it thrice, then gradually reduce it to twice and then one a week to once/month.

2.Deprive yourself by setting targets:- Deny yourself your favorite things you can't do without e.g TV shows, favorite meals, events, parties etc. Reward yourself with your favorites only when you meet the target of reducing it to once a week or per month as the case may be. Be faithful.

3.Strip yourself of everything that reminds you of the act. Pictures, videos, friends, dirty talks. It may even include relocating to somewhere you've pre-confirmed has no brothels etc

4.Idleness enhances it. Occupy yourself heavily. Start 2 or 3 jobs that will keep you working the whole day 6am to 10pm till symptoms stop. You also earn more. If you can't find a job, go to shops and offices and volunteer to help them clean, carry items, errands for cheap or for free. The owners will remember you and connect you to bigger things.

5.Try and live with people that will help restrict your movements like responsible parents and elder ones.

Most Prostitutes use charms and if you don't faithfully follow a vigorous rigorous process, you can hardly break free from their grip.

OP, I do have a friend who has the same issue like yours. He came in contact with money at an early age and all he could do with it was to spend it on clubbing and cheap sex. He told me because no girl could satisfied his hunger for sex was the reason he patronized them.

So how was he able to break the addiction? He simply met a lady who love sex like him. Alvin don't be too hard on yourself. You simply have not met that woman that will make sex from those brothel worthless.

Sharing this with you makes me remember another story of a big brother who lives in the same neighborhood with me. The bros visit this ashewos everyday to the extent he frequently fights with them for not wanting to pay. Then we heard he wanted to get married and in my my mind I was like that woman don enter trap. His story reminds me that there's no one that cannot change. Then he suddenly became a responsible man.

My point is that, you are going through a phase in life which you will outgrow. Just ensure to protect yourself very well. Hopefully, yours won't be the exception.

You should realise that you can't overcome it alone, you need the help of the holy spirit!!
Accept Jesus as your Lord and Saviour, Get close to your bible, read it continuously and pray for God's help to overcome it, look for a church that is spirit filled, get closer to Christian brothers that will always monitor your progress and activities to help you overcome it!!
Always pray whenever the urge comes and get busy with your life!!

Lastly the bible says in 1cor 6:20..." For ye are bought for a price:therefore glorify God in your body, in your spirit, which are God's own!!!
