Not really.
This is Africa.
Here, the government doesn't care. We care for each other.

It's satanic to assert that my parents merely did what they ought to do by raising me. Yes they did but again, they went, at times, beyond the call of duty.

Maybe you had bitter experiences.

Mum sacrificed a lot for us.
Of what value is your money if your loved ones don't benefit from it?

It gives me joy to see my siblings, loved ones or people close smile.

Life is a risk. The fact that few siblings turned to be never do wells doesn't mean it's so in all cases.

The youngest of my uncles had his shop burnt in onitsha main market in the 90's.
The elderly ones contributed and helped.

Today he is the richest among the kindred with houses in Lagos and Onitsha.

He single handed foots most family or village bills now without consulting anyone.

Helping people here is like insurance. The wise ones remember and repay directly or indirectly. The ingrates forget.

It also lifts the burden off you at times. For instance, you could sponsor a nephew in school, he will in turn take care of others, if things turn out well.

Ultimately, virtue lies in the middle. Always give what you can afford.

And hope to make more money for most of these stem from lack.

He never said u should not assist your families but rather u should put ur self first because people can not be trusted. All he said is just the absolute truth if we can be realistic to our self. People back home tend to relax once one of their own is abroad which is wrong.
