Yesterday was all chaos and confusion as the Christ apostolic church located at Ebutte metta was raging with fire at about 10:00pm. An insider said the inferno started after their generator was reportedly powered which ascertains the fire must have started as a result of a spark or a bridge in the electrical system withing the office area since the said Gen set was intact. The fire was first noticed after it burst through the roof of the office area and immediately calls were put through to the state fire service oyinbo (about 500m away) from the church and they made a late appearance and did nothing till Lagos state management agency (Lasema) fire brigade showed up with two trucks and kick start the fire quenching process, an additional truck came in with a back up water tanker and it took hours to put the fire down.

Observations
1_ the first truck that came in had less water required for such an operation and you wonder if this trucks aren't supposed to be preloaded given that fire fighting is an emergency.

2_ The second truck that came in couldn't get very close because of naked phcn transmission cable dangling across the street at a lower than normal altitude.

3_ onlookers were obstructing the operations of the fire brigade. No barricade was placed to make their operations swift.

This is what happens when 80% of the time, people are chanting 'fire, fire!' inside their church.
