The Amaju Pinnick led Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) have urged the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) to help Super Eagles legend Kanu Nwankwo return his reported stolen medals.

According to Kanu, he is involved in a legal dispute with Assets Management Company (AMCON) over his Hardley Apartment.

Kanu stated he was almost in tears that his medals were stolen as AMCON reportedly took over the building.

The NFF have, however, come to the defence of the man who represented Nigeria at several football competitions and is viewed as a worthy ambassador of the country following his career in Europe which has made him a global citizen.

According to a report by the NFF, “The Nigeria Football Federation on Tuesday expressed concern over the burgling of the property of former Nigeria captain Nwankwo Kanu, with valuables such as medals, plaques and trophies carted away in the heartbreaking infraction.”

Pinnick then gave Kanu the undivided support of Nigeria’s football body stating that the law enforcement agents step in and address the issue.

He said, “Our superstar and former captain is in intense pain at this period, and we empathise with him. This ia tragedy. Losing precious possessions like medals, trophies and plaques can be heartbreaking.

“We respectfully call on the Nigeria Police and other security agencies to work hard at unravelling the perpetrators of these nefarious act. Kanu worked very hard from a humble beginning to accumulate whatever he has today and to earn those precious valuables.”

Pinnick then condemned the acts of the alleged burglars stating that Kanu’s work and reputation should have been considered before the act.

He said,“Kanu brought immense joy and celebration to many homes across Nigeria, Africa and the world, while playing for the Nigeria U17 team that won the FIFA World Cup, the U23 team that he captained to Olympic gold in Atlanta in 1996 and the Super Eagles for which he featured at three FIFA World Cup finals.

“He also served several top Clubs in world football, giving them and their fans nothing but immeasurable joy. He has also been spending heavily, through his Kanu Heart Foundation, in getting medical attention for young Africans with heart defects to be cured and live normal lives.

“He does not deserve this cruel fate. Our confidence in the Nigeria Police and indeed other security agencies to hunt down these criminals is unshaken. We stand with Kanu at this low moment and we believe he will overcome and put the sad incident behind him soonest.”

Kanu has won several laurels for Nigeria at youth and senior level and also has a foundation which he has used to help support children with heart conditions recently playing a friendly game in the United Kingdom to raise money.

Nigerians eh! You took a bank loan in chunky millions, you nor gree payback as at when due or even go into negotiations with the bank.

Until the bad debt was sold to AMCON, who in turn took possession of your security by way of temporary forfeiture since the matter is still in court, you didn't pursue an out of court settlement to cut you some slacks.

You had knowledge you will lose the building albeit temporarily, you didn't move out your personal effects which the law technically allows.

Now you are here to wipe up public sympathy. If my position is correct which as a professional in this regard I believed must have happened, then you are not actually leaving to your repute as a legend.

Na innocent public you wan make them lose their deposit with banks to you Fa? Kolewerk!

You guys think this is All State Trust Bank you all killed? And made innocent depositors go through hell?

It was for persons of your kind, OBJ set up AMCON any how.

I love and respect you bro. That joy of Atlanta 96 still rings in my brain. Life time memory bro.

But please avoid this public shame by going into settlement with them. Help those of us wen see you guys as our life mentor.

Something like a life trophy. Don't render that trophy worthless boss.

This comment may sound insensitive but Kanu its just the first thought that came to mind.

I did not expect a person of Kanu's caliber to borrow money to build the hotel.

One thing to be learned from his story though is to seperate family from business.

His younger brother who mismanaged the place has zero training nor experience in hotel catering and management so why put him im charge instead of getting competent managers to do so.

I wish him speedy recovery frim this fall cause he is my favourite footballer and he is a kind man as well.

What was he expecting when he left his trophies in an empty hotel? If the trophies meant very much to him, he would have made arrangements to secure them.

Millions of pounds Sterling made in Europe and he had to borrow money from a Nigerian bank? Kanu is not a serious businessman. That's all. Nigeria is not business friendly. Invest only your loose change in that country. Banks (especially Nigerian banks) keep destroying lives and people keep falling for their shenanigans. Some people believe their parents are wealthy until they die and banks show up.

NB: Google it. Many athletes go broke when their careers are over from bad investments or flamboyant lifestyles. It is nothing new.
