With few days to the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Board elections, the Electoral Committee on Thursday

released the list of qualified candidates for the various positions thereby signifying the beginning of the final battle for the positions by the aspirants.

According to the statement issued by the Chairman of the NFF Electoral Committee, AU Mustapha, the North Central Zone and South West Zone topped the list of qualified candidates with nine aspirants each.

Forty-eight aspirants were cleared to vie for the 12 positions available in the NFF Board in the election slated for Abuja on August 21, 2010. But there will be a live transmission of the Presidential debate on Saturday 14 August, 2010.

The Interim President of the NFF, Aminu Maigari and Sani Toro will slug it out for the position of the president from North East. Dikko Shehu and Tijani yusuf would battle each other from the North West, while Segun Odegbami amd Olapade Bukola all from Ogun state will settle score to see who would emerge to represent the state.

Mike Umeh and Obinna Ogba will slug it out for the Vice presidency from the South east, while Fanny Amun and Jarret Tenebe are both coming from Edo state as aspirants for the Vice Presidency.

Former footballers like Christain Chukwu, Austin Jay Jay Okocah, Patrick Ekong, Collins Eselemo, Mutiu Adepoju, Emeka Iwuagwu will try to make it to the Board from their respective zones. The former Super Eagles Coach Adegboye Onigbinde , Enyimba International manager Felix Anyansi Agwu are also cleared to vie for positions in the Board.

Further analysis of the lists also showed that the South West Zone topped the list of those who collected but could not submit their nomination forms and were subsequently disqualified from contesting the August 21st election.

Among those disqualified yesterday for not submitting their forms include Board member Princess Bola Jegede, Rotimi Pedro, Archtect Bolu, Taiwo Afini.

Also disqualified for reasons not diosclosed by the committee include aspirants from the North West, Alkasim Alin, Bokar Modaka and Mukhtar Ahmed.
