2019: 2GDPN Presidential Flag Bearer Pledges To Tackle Boko Haram by Armani79(m): 7:54am On Jan 19, 2019
The Presidential candidate of the Grassroots Development Party of Nigeria(GDPN), Dr. Davidson Akhimien on Thursday stormed Ijebu - Ode, Ogun state, with his campaign train, pledging to tackle insecurity, particularly Boko haram insurgents frontally, if elected President in 2019.

Akhimen who attributed the security challenges buffeting the country to a "disconnect between the government and the people," said the situation has left the nation's youth hopeless, jobless and hungry.

According to him, pervasive hunger is the precursor and driver of most of the crimes and other youth restiveness prevalent in many parts of the country.

Fielding questions from the crowd after addressing the rally in Oyingbo area of Ijebu - Ode where he unveiled some of his programmes which includes massive jobs creation for the burgeoning unemployed Nigerian youths, he said "guns and bullets" would not tackle insecurity driven by hunger.

The Presidential hopeful said the problem of insecurity in the country would be greatly addressed when the government makes it easy for citizens to access qualitative and affordable food.

He warned that the type of security challenges that had brought the better parts of the North to her knees, is possible in other regions of the country if the needs of the youths were not addressed.

Akhimien cited Sweden and Scandinavian countries where Snow is experienced about six months every year yet they are still able to effectively feed their citizens with quality food, wondering why Nigeria with large fertile arable land and favourable climate could leave the citizens in hunger.

He assured that if GDPN forms the government of Nigeria by next year, the party already has a blue print on how to turn the fortune of the country around and make the citizens rejoice again as in time of old.
