docadams: Well... with Atiku in Aso rock .... I doubt if that battle wont be resurrected ..... I assume Tinubu has his hand in LADOL and I doubt he'd handle them like GEJ did. moreover, the LADOL - SHI deal was also faulted then, as per distance from operating zone. |

kenchop: its exactly what happened.. I remember LADOL and SHI were meant to run the thing together as per Local Content palava. But even then, I feared LADOL may not fulfill its own part of the bargain fully. So its not surprising it eventually came to this. We keep hoping that people eventually learn the value of hardwork and the government eventually takes skills and technology transfer serious. |

9jaRealist: While the technology transfer and capacity building stemming from such projects are laudable, I think SHI is trying to ease out LADOL from this contract. If they succeed, SHI will be solely responsible for the entire contract, leaving LADOL and the local content mandate of GEJ's era out. lets just keep hoping that real well meaning people will intervene in this matter and see to it that that SHI's intention doesn't fall through, if that's truly the case. I am not supporting the deficit in the trainees' capability and readiness to learn, but we must start from somewhere. We may later begin to formally screen the trainees and entrench meritocracy in the workforce, while maintaining the overall objective of the venture. |

kafeii123: The issue of distance was put foward by INTELS. |

kafeii123: I do not want SHI to cheat LADOL (if that's what they are planning to do), but local content is law so SHI cannot weasel out of it. We all appear to be on the same side, but I just do not believe that our first or instinctive response when there is a dispute involving foreign investors is to kick them out (rather than to try to resolve it to the mutual benefit and satisfaction of all. |

docadams: Well... the question is not out of place .... I think GEJ mainly assented to LADOL's proposal then to curry favours from Tinubu/APC's support. Some people were citing security as a concern then... that doesn't fly with me... since more huge projects have been executed in the region without incidence. The outcome of this oncoming election will greatly shape how the whole issue turns out IMO. |

kafeii123: INTELS infractions are innumerable, bros It even forged a letter purported to be from NPA. LADOL survived INTELS onslaught because of PMB's govt. |

docadams: We thank God for LADOL's survival. PMB's support definitely confirms the Tinubu connection. While INTEL might be more competent in the field, I am not aware of their staff composition but I guess it will be mostly "expatriated". So LADOL should be good for local content if we look at that. However, LADOL's technical competence "might" be creating issues. I wont be surprised if SHI is trying to edge out LADOL only to later re-merge with INTEL. A more homogenous solution might be a merger of the two on these projects so that tasks are shared based on technical competence et al. i.e less complex jobs for LADOL and more knotty ones for INTEL. Till LADOL "comes of age" fully Economics doesn't lie and profit is more important to business than patriotism/politics. |
