President Muhammadu Buhari is currently in a meeting at the Presidential Villa with members of the National Council of State.

According to reports, those present at the meeting are past presidents and heads of state, Chief Justices of Nigeria, leaders of the National Assembly, state governors, among others.

Past presidents at the meeting include Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, Goodluck Jonathan, former Head of Interim National Government, Ernest Shonekan, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, and Abdulsalami Abubakar.

Homes, Farms Set Ablaze as Two Communities Clash in Anambra

Several houses have been set ablaze and farmlands burnt following a clash between Umuemu Anam and Nzam, both in Anambra West Local Government Area of Anambra State over ownership of a parcel of land in the area.

It was gathered that youths of Umuemu Anam community provoked the clash by using a bush path leading to the farm camp of the neighbouring Nzam community and allegedly set ablaze their huts and yam seedlings.

In a swift reaction, youths of Nzam mobilised, using speedboats and went to the farm camp of Umuemu community, setting ablaze property valued at millions of naira.

Supreme Court Reserves Ruling on Rivers APC Appeal

The Supreme Court has reserved ruling on the competence of appeal filed by Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Ameachi’s faction of Rivers State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

A five-man panel led by Justice Mohammed Dattijo, fixed ruling on a date to be communicated to the parties after listening to counsel’s submissions in the matter.

The Supreme Court had in December last year adjourned till March 8, 2019 to determine the legality or otherwise of primary elections the APC conducted in Rivers State to nominate its candidates for the 2019 polls.

Six Ministers Tell Story of Decline and Recovery of Nigerian Economy

Attendance was unsually heavy at the Banquet Hall of the State House, Abuja, as the Economic Management Team (EMT) engaged representatives of the private sector from all over the country on the economy at the 10th Presidential Quarterly Business Forum.

“We didn’t know you have done so much,” Nike Akande, the President of the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry and honorary life Vice-President of the Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture, said.

Six minsters had taken turns to brief the leaders of the Organized Private Sector in a manner that told the story of the economy and addressed contemporary issues.

Ex Super Eagle, Efe Sodje, Brothers Jailed in the UK for Charity Fund Diversion
A former defender with the Nigerian Super Eagles, Efe Sodje and two of his brothers have been jailed for syphoning about 60,000 pounds from a charity they set up to help poor African children, Telegraph UK reports.

Efe, 46, his brothers; Stephen, 43, who is also a footballer and Bright, 52, an ex-rugby player were convicted of milking their own fundraising campaign, the Sodje Sports Foundation (SSF).

While delivering the judgement, Judge Michael Topolski QC told the defendants: “You have brought shame upon yourselves and your family.”
