Coffin Makers In Ghana Cries For Government’s Help, Says Patronage Is Low by seriousstaff: 2:04pm On Jan 23, 2019
Coffin makers in Ghana are pleading for the government to help them bolster their business by securing a permanent location for them with access to good wood.

According to them, they alleged that they are being pushed out of business by some Burkinabes who pay wood processors in Ghana higher prices for rough cut lumber.

The coffin makers say wood processors, particularly those in Kumasi, prefer to sell their wood to the Burkinabes who now enjoy preferential treatment on the domestic wood market.

About 200 coffin makers at the Kumasi Asafo Labour enclave say the situation has forced some of their people to move out to settle in other parts of the metropolis, noting patronage of coffin making is not fetching money as it used to be in times past.

Speaking with 3news.com, Chairman of the Coffin Makers Association, Kwabena Sarpong, said if the situation is not checked, woodworkers in the country will soon be thrown out of business.

Their retailers blame their low patronage on Nigerian shop owners.

Now their coffin makers blame burkinabes for their issues.

Soon their president will join Buhari to be blaming all their economic woes on PDP.

Ghanaians, Kenyans, South Africans will always blame other Africans for their issues
