Miffed by the suspension of Justice Walter Onnoghen as the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), the Nigeria Bar Association (NBA) has called for an emergency meeting of its National Executive Committee members.

President Muhammadu Buhari, acting on a ex-parte order made by two members of the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) suspended Justice Onnoghen as the CJN, and consequently appointed the next most Senior Justice of the Supreme Court, Justice Tanko Ibrahim as the acting CJN and Chairman of the NJC. The Federal Government is prosecuting Onnoghen on a six-count criminal charge bordering on non assets declaration of about five of his domiciliary accounts, domiciled with Standard Chattered Bank.

The defendant through his counsel, Chief Wole Olanipekun (SAN) had challenged the jurisdiction of the tribunal to try the CJN. The tribunal had at the last adjourned fixed tomorrow to hear the application.

Don't know why people are crying around because of the removal,when the title isn't a family royal stuff like a kingship where one family rule forever,this is a Republic government, people serve, and people go,during obj era,he indirectly remove some governors like fayoshe,CJN need to be suspended till when his matter will be clear... As for me and my households, we are supporting sowore,but if buhari win, so be it but never involved myself in something that will bring PDP back to power, not to talk of Atiku of all people, enough of old faces please... There is no way u want to clean up the mess that people won't see u as an evil,like the way they label buhari as a dictator.

Yes, it's normal, u can't just fights those ones that are doing everything to make sure that u get to the power directly ,u can just find the way to always caution them and punish them indirectly . Just look at trump,he knows that some members of his party are not a Saints,but he only criticised democrats publicly. Even if you were in buhari shoe,you will do the same,there are many corrupt officials under Jonathan,but he never punish them,even those ones that coordinate the immigration recruitment exercise that led to several graduates death never get punish,u can't punish your supporters but you have to let them know Ur agenda so that non of them can break the mutual agreement,so those that are not satisfy with it can leave the party just the way Atiku, saraki, and others leaves,including obj that always criticised government that didn't favour him.

PDP are a crooks that know how to play their game very well than other political parties because they are very matured in criminal activities,.. Europeans,US or UK shouldn't interfere in our issues, they are the ones that started this mess a century ago . Besides,what is the essence of gaining independent?, they have many issues of their own, so they should face it, there are many dictators in Africa here and around the world whos has been ruling for the past 3 decades,they have nothing to say to that.... Hypocrites

Buhari should remember the treatment given to Gadaffi and be scared. Abacha never won over the will of the people and the rule of Nigeria's laws. U.S have warned Buhari, E.U have warned him, U.K have also warned him. The Gadaffi and Sadam Hussain-treatment awaits every dictator who has chosen not to follow the constitution.

NBA Imo State Chapter already had theirs yesterday and have given the chairman and the executives their blessings to go forth and speak their minds. Some of the key resolutions they reached are

2. That Owerri Bar hereby empowers the chairman and executive members of the Bar to attend the NEC meeting of the NBA on Monday 28/01/2019 and insist on the branch position that all legal process must be followed to ensure that this Constitutional breach is reversed.
3. That in addition to (2) above, Owerri Bar resolved that NBA should take all other steps including but not limited to the total boycott of Courts and if the need arises the shutting down of the polity in collaboration with Civil Society Groups.
4. That the Attorney General of the Federation and the Vice President be called upon to resign for being complicit in the Constitutional breach.
5. That in addition to (4), the Attorney General of the Federation and the Vice President should face disciplinary committee of the Bar for disciplinary actions;

Useless NBA... They condoled the impunity of Jonathan when he illegally removed Ayo Salami and Sanusi because he stocked their pockets with money and now crying because Buhari will not play ball.

They should go and first with the corruption cases in judiciary before we can take them serious.

PaChukwudi44 and SalamRushdie, in as much as i support you guys in all ur clamoring for due process to be followed, make i no lie una i doubt it o..... Na shout we go shout, the man is gone. And for people shouting Coup, Nothing like that go happen, you shouting the Coup can't leave the four corners of your room and the people that can still help you carry it out are all from the North. Make una forget Coup abeg. Even if this CJN returns, it will be worse. The way EFCC will frustrate him and his allies. More dirt will be dug up. There is no decision he will make that can be transparent to both parties. There will always be fights over his credibility. So my people that man don GO. if he returns his career his under threat. Even the NJC will not allow him continue as head until this case is clear, reason he postponed meetings infinitely.
