The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, has lauded the United States, the United Kingdom and the European Union for standing with Nigeria in its trying times.

In a statement personally signed by him, the former Nigerian vice president wrote, “My thanks especially go to the governments of the United Kingdom, the United States and the European Union for standing shoulder to shoulder with the Nigerian people. This is most appreciated and on behalf of the voiceless, I say thank you.

“And to those who accuse these governments of interfering, I remind them that they made no such accusations when they celebrated a statement from the US/UK/EU calling for free and fair elections in 2015, just after the postponement of the 2015 elections to make room for a final assault against Boko Haram.

“What has changed between then and now, except that they are now in power?”

Mr. Abubakar condemned the removal of the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN) Walter Onnoghen by President Muhammadu Buhari and called on Nigerians to resist every form of dictatorship by the government.

He, however, said he is not fighting for justice for the embattled CJN but to protect Nigeria’s constitution which has been desecrated by the action of Mr. Buhari.

By their words, you shall know them. These looters will rather watch Nigeria burn than give up their power thirsty ambitions

The chief justice is very wrong for his act, infact, he should have gotten a stiffer judgement. In saner climes, he would have resigned, unfortunately, that is how all the politicians are in Nigeria. Even those ones shouting on the CJN have skeletons in their cupboard. I don't really have much problem with the suspension of the CJN, but with the speed of the suspension, close to the election when Buhari himself said he can't sign an electoral bill because it is close to the election. There are cases of Amaechi, Oshiomole, Apabio, and co in court and the government turned a blind eye to either suspend them to allow fair hearing or ask them to step aside, so why the hurry in the CJN case. Where are the Maina, Babachir Lawal, Mamman Daura, Kemi Adeosun, Shittu that is still in government despite accepting that he didn't serve. The FG's action to obey the CCT order immediately and ignoring other court judgements on the Shiite leader, Dasuki, and co shows hypocrisy, rascality, irrationality and partiality, it is blatant and should not be allowed. Justice should be even and inclusive, not exclusive....

grin

Damage control after they discovered that they have inadvertently given themselves away by their wailings for the compromised CJN.

The toxic wailing by the PDP over the CJN is highly suspicious! Atiku is now trying to step things down and saying

"Guys don't let us make this thing too conspicuous, let's keep it down a bit" grin

Too late! Dubai strategy in ruins already cheesy

mumu man, trying time of who?

if Nigeria needs to move forward we gat to do away with this pattern of democracy and adopt Radical Democratic Reformation. if Nigeria democracy is really by the people and for the people, someone like Atiku should be in prison by now

if I happen to be president tomorrow I'll jail Buhari for not sending obj, Atiku and gej to prison for their Inhumane and fraudulence acts against Nigerians

Nigerians the choice is before you ooo kill buhari with a land slide loss else he'd kill you people ooo. If with second term in the balance his performance could be this abysmal, I wonder how his second term would be

Thank them for what? We are a sovereign nation . Now Atiku knows CJN issa criminal abi. He should have urged the CJN to resign, if it was that same UK, US he will not even have to be suspended...the pressure will be on him to resign and no court will even try to stop that from happening. But in Our dear Naija someone will steal get caught red handed but still run to court to stop his arrest and the whole country will be behind him...yet we want corruption to end.
But PMB is being hypocritical, he should respect other judgements with the same alacrity.
