A lady who lost six friends and her sister after a drunk driver rammed into them has taken to Facebook to mourn them and narrate how they died.

Temitope Hameed said the women had all gone for a vigil in a mosque along the Moshood Abiola way in Abeokuta, Ogun State. While performing ablution in preparation for prayers, a drunk driver rammed into them, killing 7 of them while 1 is in a coma.


The car which rammed into the young women had 4 occupants, one of them a woman. They all sustained injuries in the car.

According to reports, the drunk-driver lost control of the vehicle he was driving before he ploughed into the victims.

The Head of Operations Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE), Abeokuta Division, Olaleye Babajide, confirmed the incident. He said the accident occurred at about 10.30 pm on Friday, January 25, 2018.

He said:


The car swooped off the road, uprooted an electric pole and thereafter crushed the worshippers standing in front of the Rahamot Lahill Quareeb mosque located beside the road, killing them on the spot.


The official said the deceased were relaxing in front of the mosque in preparation for a vigil before tragedy struck.

He added:



The impact of the crash forced the authorities of the State Traffic officials to axe the car into pieces before the four occupants of the car could be removed from the wreckage.



Mr Babajide said the occupants of the car including the driver were drunk.

He said:



Overspeeding on the part of the driver was responsible for the crash. A number of alcoholic drinks, including tramadol were seen in the car,” he said.


He said two of the occupants of the car were arrested while attempting to run away from the scene of the accident. He added that the bodies of the victims have been deposited at the morgue of Federal Medical Centre(FMC).

that road is ain't notorious but the drivers plying the road are notorious mad cow rabbis infected fellow.
even in broad daylight you need imagine how a sane man would be moving on a high speed on a slop descending road (like some ghost are chasing after them) within a residential area.
reason with some they respond by saying 'it's an express way', taking expansion to ease traffic for an highway within a residential area. this applicable to even the enlightened ones.
such pity they're all in single sweep. about an hour ago, I was talking with a neighbour who had a first hand view of the accident, it's a sorry state. going to church yesterday seeing the site, an entire concrete electric pole was uprooted and crush to rumble making is difficult to believe any survivor. the sport is directly opposite my barbers shop.
can imagine those young souls were terminated as a result of the recklessness of some nuisance within our society.

abolution by the road side, start building your mosques off the road and get the fenced , it will reduce cases like this.

abolution by the road side, start building your mosques off the road and get the fenced , it will reduce cases like this.

the mosque is by the road side though but I doubt the ablution thing cos they have created space for ablution that would even keep them away from the road. even the sitting of the mosque is such that it will be difficult for vehicle to swerve off the road and crush anyone there.
the ladies might have being standing by the road side discussing waiting for the vigil to commence, see the scene yesterday on my way to church the impact point of vehicle had nothing to do with the mosque but the junction of the street it sat on. the mosque is sitting on the entrance junction of a street on the olorunsogo axis of the abiola way.

Hmm.. only a second exist between life and death... My mum was actually supposed to be dead with this people... sometimes we just don't know how life forces operates.. she just stood up from where this girl's are taking breeze in front of the mosque.. she saw the car coming when she wanted to cross the road.. just about to cross, the car rammed into where she just stood up and the people she just talked to were to be identified with their clothes.. body parts now apart.. intestines out.. Damn!..

Nothing happened to the guys inside the car, how come? as in non of them.. two even ran away.. like 8 casualties.. All the way. RIP to them..

Alhamdlilah mum is still unable to get herself.. Hmm.. God knows best

it is confirmed that the four in that picture are student of CATERING DEPARTMENT, GOVERNMENT TECHNICAL COLLEGE, IDI ABA, ABEOKUTA, not too far from where they were killed. even the picture in which four of them pose was snapped on Friday.
the matron to their hostel is said to be under admission at fmc as of the shock from the news. there was no activities in that school today.

Meanwhile rest in peace friends their consolation is that they'll continue their friendship in the afterlife.
