Chimamanda Adichie is a passionate Igbo intellectual. At the recently held Face of Okija beauty pageant, she gave a rousing speech in which she extolled the virtues of the great Igbo race.


She pointed out several achievements of Ndigbo for which they should be rightly proud. One of these least known achievements is the fact that Igbo Land produced Nigeria’s first professor of statistics.

She said;.Igboland produced that mathematics genius, Professor James Esielo; Nkem Dora Akuyili (RIP).

Igbo land produced Nigeria’s first professor of statistics, a man I also happen to call daddy, Professor James Adichie.

Igbo land produced the first woman to be the registrar of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, a woman I also happened to call mummy.

Igbo race must learn to break its own records. We must move civilization forward by pushing ourselves beyond. We can do it.

I look forward to hearing of, seeing and meeting great Igbos. Igbo Nigerian entrepreneur Chinedu Echeruo created an app and Apple bought it for $1 billion. He is Igbo.
