#Onnoghen: Lawyers Ignore NBA Boycott Order by midolian(m): 11:16am On Jan 29, 2019
Lawyers in Nigeria’s Federal Capital Territory have reported to the courts despite an order by the Nigerian Bar Association for them to boycott the courts.

The association called for the boycott at the end of its emergency National Executive Council meeting on Monday, which discussed the suspension of Walter Onnoghen as the Chief Justice of Nigeria.

Mr Onnoghen was suspended in controversial circumstances by President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday.

The suspension is deemed illegal and has drawn strong condemnations. The NBA ordered court boycott in protest, amid concerns over the violation of the independence of the judiciary.

A PREMIUM TIMES reporter who visited the headquarters of the Federal High Court and FCT High Court in Maitama reported that normal businesses went on as lawyers reported to the courts.

Many courts at the federal high court were filled with lawyers waiting for sessions to begin.

Before nko, how won't lawyers go to court. NBA already has its president undergoing corruption cases and thus its legitimacy has been cast in doubt.

As expected, all these noise and protests against suspension of the corrupt Onnoghen is just like mourning the dead. sometimes, a minute silence is all we do.. some other times, we go on a day or two days public holiday..after which activities will go on like nothing ever happened...

I might be wrong about this. The lawyers probably "forgot" to boycott the courts

only the poor in brain a foolish enough to support a man who said he forgot 1b naira in an account. I forgot to declare it means I forgot I have such. let's assume he actually forgot, do you know how stinkingly rich you need to be to forget you have 1billion naira?
do you know that about 2,000 youths would have been enriched with half a million naira(500,000) each if that money had been used to settle newly graduated students who desired to start up their own businesses?
ask yourself if you are actually part of them, if they actually recognise and treat you as one of them before you jump half naked into the street shouting we no go gree.

Why should lawyers take NBA serious when their president has a billions naira fraud on his head at court. BDC onnoghen is alone in his battle. Maybe lawyers in pdp state can shun court in solidarity for the corrupt judge. Espirit de corps.

Hahahahahahahahaha

I've said it already yesterday, as concerning this issue of Onnoghen suspension, NBA is irrelevant. Their opinion means nothing and anyone that picks the decision coming from that association as serious is wasting time.

The only authority on this is the NJC and a close look at the NJC tells that the case is already settled.

NJC would only ask Onnoghen to resign.

What else?

He's found wanting already, he's stained and not fit in any legal capacity.

The earlier him and his friends accept this the better they can focus on another strategy. Onnoghen is bursted!

The head of the NBA is also a thief...

Why should any sane struggling lawyer searching for his daily bread adhere to the corrupt NBA's directive?

By the time Buhari is done with y'all, una eyes go clear.

It would have been good if the lawyers boycotted the courts...allover the country....not because it is right to defend corruption, but because it is right to stand up for due process, even if it means corrupt and bad officials hide from prosecution via legalese.

And I say this as someone who thinks the ex CJN has a case to answer.
