Anambra State Government has fingered agents of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and All Progressives Congress (APC) over the rumoured defection of Governor Willie Obiano from All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) to the rulling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Anambra State Commissioner for Information and Strategic Communication C Don Adinuba, who described the rumour as untrue, accused agents of the APC and PDP of being behind it. “Investigations have revealed that those who have been spreading this rumour are agents of two of the three leading political parties in Nigeria, namely, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and All Progressives Congress (APC),” he said.

He stated that contrary to the rumours, Obiano remains the National Leader of APGA and the Chairman of the party’s Board of Trustees and has been demonstrating that by telling APGA supporters to vote only APGA candidates at political rallies.

“He (Governor Obiano) has in the last few weeks been campaigning vigorously for APGA’s candidates in the forthcoming general polls, including General John Gbor, the party’s presidential candidate.

“He has been consistent in telling the immensely huge crowds of supporters wherever he has been to vote for only APGA candidates. He has never asked Anambra people to vote APGA candidates in some elections and candidates of some other party or parties in another election,” Adinuba said.

He added that the governor is guided by the policy of constructive engagement as against confrontation whereby he encourages friendliness across political parties and divergent interest. “Once again, the Anambra State Government wants to reiterate Governor Obiano’s policy of Constructive Engagement, as opposed to Confrontation, in his relationship with people, groups and institutions. This policy means that much as there are differences in political perspective with those who belong to parties other than his own APGA, whether at the local or national level, we must maintain a friendly disposition to all,” he said.

Adinuba insisted that the governor has no intention

Once the elections are over, and Victor umeh wins his senatorial elections, they'll wait for obiano to leave in the next 2 years, lose his immunity and become politically exposed, then Umeh and others supported by the Anambra businessmen like Ifeanyi Uba will hijack the party force Obiano to for cover to ApC and hide under booharri's babariga. grin
