The Ijebu-Ode Local Government Council in Ogun State has organised a four-week free coaching classes for 3,500 students as part of its Education Enrichment Scheme.

The local government's Supervisor for Community Development, Mrs. Amidat Eniola, made the disclosure in Ijebu-Ode on Tuesday in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria.

Eniola, who is also the coordinator of the coaching programme, said that over 10,000 exercise books and other writing materials worth over N1m were distributed to students at the coaching centres.

She explained that the four-week coaching lessons were currently taking place at three different centres in the town, with 33 qualified teachers in each centre.

The supervisor explained that the coaching was for primaries five and six pupils, as well as JSS1 and SS 2 students "so as to keep them busy during this long holiday period."

She said the students were being taught the core subjects such as English language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Integrated Science.

She noted that prizes would be given to the best students at the end of the exercise, stressing that the scheme was a personal programme of the council.
