cochtrane: When did you get this mail though? You may need to give it a few days before you get instructions on how to do this in your account, or have placeholders created. Read the first 3 posts in this thread.
Would be nice if you could come update the house on how this goes just for the sake of others. Update: Sent them an email to clarify how the requested documents should be forwarded. They responded that i should send by email although i already did that. Spouse has been added and UCI assigned, no ADR request on the online application and no request to upload. |

Just explain it in the LOE like that and attach a schedule A form and the VISa denial letters. PR is for people that will stay so you should be fine. |

nairalandnewbie: Hello, thank you for this reply. I was also denied last year for purpose of visit(Not sure I will come back to Nigeria). 1. How can I explain this in an LOE. 2. I hope this won't affect my application lol i no dey for cic wahala o Thank you. Exactly they way you have stated it. I was refused for so and so reason. The good thing is that reasons like 'Not sure that applicant will leave after completion of studies' has no bearing on your PR application since its for people who intend to stay anyways. The only thing you should be bothered about is if you were refused due medical or security reasons. |

Ethelia: Please I'm back again
My fellow lawyers, when completing the profile, there is a question about 'which date did you first become qualified to practice this profession' .
Do I use the date I received my university degree (which is what I have an ECA from IQAS for, or do I use Law school call to bar date?
Thanks The appropriate date is the date you got LLB. I used same for my application. Your BL. has no bearing on your application until you get to Canada and you are ready to get licensed. In addition, your LLB was the certificate that was evaluated and it was done without the assumption that you have a BL certificate, even law grads without BL will get the same evaluation if sent to IQAS hence the reason for this conclusion. Although i have seen instances that a VO will request for your BL but it is not a general requirement. Summary - Your LLb was evaluated, stick to the details on it. |

The details have already been captured truly but due to historical antecedent, they often send ADR for you to fill a Schedule A form in the course of the application. It only makes your application faster to forestall any possibility of ADR. It is not set in stone that they will definitely request for it, just been proactive. |

ottawaboi: Happy Sunday guys, please how do I present previous rejection. I had been rejected a study Canadian visa before, do I attach the rejection letter in my application or just mention it in the LOE, I don't want any form of misrepresentation to occur. Attach all letters you received from CIC for visa denials and write an LOE explaining the reason for denial also fill Schedule A upfront. I was denied Canadian study visa twice after which i appealed and won and was issued subsequently, i attached the two denial letters and the approval letter and also the visa affixed to my passport, i also filled a schedule A upfront and wrote an LOE explaining how it all went down. |

cochtrane: If I'm not mistaken, I think you need to raise a CSE for this. http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/contacts/web-form.asp
For the IMM8 form, you need to make sure what you download is from CIC's website. That's where you found multiple versions? Raised a CSE already and also informed them via mail. This was the response i got. My concern is the request for the two passport size photograph, sounds like hard copies to me otherwise why does it have to be two?. so if it is hard copies, will i have to mail it to them as against the usual online application? |

MrsI: There's really no much difference between Ip1 and Ip2. So if you missed the NA stage in between the two stages, one might not really be able to tell. Or this there a way to tell? NA1 is when your background check is showing 'Not Applicable' before you paseed medical and sometimes even up till few days after you passed medical IP1 is when your background check changes and it's showing 'In Progress' most times same day as medical passed or a few days after NA2 is when your background check changes again and it's showing 'Not Applicable'. This is for the second time that's why we call it 2 IP2 is when your background check changes to 'we are processing your background check'. What is written in front of 'additional documents' too may change from time to time |

Newmum0615: Good morning. Saw a post saying that you only need to present a letter showing 6 months pension funds balance and then highlighting 25% of that as POF. How true is this? My thought were that the 25% applies to the total amount you have so far as pension funds. So say you have 5M as total pension funds, wouldnt the 25% be on the 5M or it will it be on a 6 months balance of say 850k? The thing is confusing. Its quite straightforward actually. The 25% of the total Retirement Savings Account balance is available to you. You are only attaching your six month RSA statement just as in the case of a bank account. That you only attached a six months bank statements doesn't erase the fact that you have access to the entire sum. Monthly remittance into your pension account is usually the same except you were promoted and at which the required percentage may change so there is nothing to worry about really. Get a letter from your PFA stating that you can have access to your RSA within four months of disengagement in line with the PRA 2014 then attach your six months RSA statement (this will show monthly remittance in the last six months, the total contribution till date, income earned till date and total balance) You don't need to worry about a statement on indebtedness as Pension funds are not subject to lien for repayment of debt not even to your employer. Is it less confusing now? |

Guitarlife: Please people how many percent of Pension fund is acceptable as POF, I know of 25% but is it true that we can push it to 50 % ? You question here is ambiguous. 1. If the question is whether or not your pension can constitute more than 25% of your Proof of Funds - Yes it can 2. If the question is whether or not you can collect more than 25% of your pension - No you can't. even AVC has been changed effective December 1st 2017 as you can only access 50% of AVC remittance within the last two years of contribution and the remaining balance is locked until retirement. |

solomonsny: I've searched the questions regarding pension being used as POF but my question is slightly different. Am still employed and we have a staff provident fund in which i currently have more than enough money for my POF. This money will be available to me in full as soon as i resign which i only want to do after receiving my PPR. Am wondering if this will be accepted as POF if i can attach all necessary statements and write ups.
Not sure if it has been answered before but i've searched the pages before and only seen answers on pension yet mine is not. The Staff provident fund or gratuity fund as in other companies is even better than Pension funds as you are entitled to it upon disengagement from employment and you dont have to wait for 4months as in the case of pension funds. However, since it is not frequently used, your reference letter from the trustees of the fund must clearly state that you will have access to the funds IMMEDIATELY YOU RESIGN and state CLEARLY how much you will be entitled to. It may also help if you can get them to state that you are not currently indebted to the company in anyway that cause them to place a lien on the balance. |

kunmi5: Yes, CIC advises applicants not to resign until when residency application is confirmed.
It is also clearly stated by CIC on their website that funds not readily available or liquidated as at the time of providing your proof of funds cannot count, infact they even went ahead to advise if you can sell a land, car or property but using a land document or 10 cars or any document & giving a timeline for the availability of the fund is not accepted except they change the rule tomorrow. The word unencumbered funds was used for it meaning readily available, not slowed down, free from mortgage or any limitation of the law.
https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/immigrate-canada/express-entry/become-candidate/eligibility/proof-funds.html Lets be guided accordingly so we dont slow our application process. Its not about what we feel or think or feel they think, it about the stated rule. Oga, 25% funds is not encumbered o. Check that definition again, it is only subject to some conditions. Just like T-bills is until maturity or fixed deposit. It is available to you just that you need to ensure that anything sine qua non to withdrawal is met. in this instance - dISENGAGEMENT. Many have used it and no issue was raised even for up to 50% of the POF. |

kunmi5: If poSsible, why dont you withdraw the 25% and add it to your funds. Those immigration officers are detailed & rarely deal with hoped figures. The thought is that if it is withdrawable, why then did you not withdraw it for this purpose.
I actually read something similar to this on another online forum If you attach a copy of the PRA 2014 to the letter you will realise that the money is available to you only 4Months after you are disengaged from your employment and this is also stated in the letter so you cant withdraw it immediately since you are still working. I bet CIC understands this, that you will have to disengage from your employment when you are travelling consequent of which the money becomes available and they probably decided to allow it since CIC often advise applicants not to resign until the PR is approved. |

Ekinado: Congrats to the PPR recipients!!!!!! please can someone assist me with the meaning of these words so I can understand my timeline
IP1 NA1 NA2 IP2
Thanks Sleekysilk: Let me try: Note that all these differences are seen under BACKGROUND CHECK (BGC) NA1 is when your background check is showing 'Not Applicable' before you paseed medical and sometimes even up till few days after you passed medical IP1 is when your background check changes and it's showing 'In Progress' most times same day as medical passed or a few days after NA2 is when your background check changes again and it's showing 'Not Applicable'. This is for the second time that's why we call it 2 IP2 is when your background check changes to 'we are processing your background check'.
What is written in front of 'additional documents' too may change from time to time
If you had noticed your BGC immediately after you got AOR you would have been able to see if there's a difference now that you passed medical. What I did was to munch my application details each time there's an update or I sight a difference in terminologies. Then I compare my screenshots.
Hope this helps. So just go now and get a screenshot of your details as of this moment and next time u log into your account, compare your last shot with your current details. |
