Douglas Costa, the Brazilian maestro who is a £54 million target for Manchester United was miraculously not injured after the incident.

According to Corriere Torino, the collision happened between Livorno Ferraris and Santhia in the province of Vercelli, on the Turin-Milan motorway.

Costa was on the trip in a Jeep Cherokee when the vehicle crashed into a Fiat Punto.

The driver of the Fiat, who is 47 years old was taken to Biella Hospital after suffering injuries, nevertheless the severity of his status has not been revealed.

It is not clear how the crash started, with the accident being investigated by the Novara Est traffic police.
