The desire for relevance and influence by our elites has transgressed our societal precepts. Rather than competing in the race to provide succour to the common man, their attention is constantly directed at seizing power at all cost; self-actualization they might call it. But of what good is such desire when it hurts the people. Even for those who promise heaven and earth when elected I ask, of what good is wealth and welfare if you have to hurt the people? Caring about the people is a life of its own and a difficult one for that matter, and this is why not everyone is capable of it. The most agonizing aspect of this power tussle is that, in an attempt to seize power, lives are intentionally sacrificed through induced crisis, and the resultant consequence is public incitement against such attack to serve as a discredit to the government in power. But the woes are unending as no one is free of this blame, as with every change in power, we experience loss of precious human lives. It is likewise disappointing and crippling to see people jubilating when lives are lost through crisis, because it is happening under a government that does not have their support. We go to the extent of inculcating into our campaign strategy comparative analysis of lives lost under previous regimes. How dare we weigh the value of a human life, how dare we play number game with human life? No matter what the great cause may be, it will never outweigh more than a human life. To say a thousand lives are worth more than one life only goes to indicate that it does not matter how we go about achieving our goals in life. Let us all realise that this path if taken by someone makes no sense and does not deserve any commendation. The gullible and excitable who easily fall prey to such gimmicks must rise to the challenge and realize that the tides are rising and the common man’s redemption is nigh, but only if we take the bull by the horns. Since there is no weapon more powerful than public support, there is no enemy we cannot defeat once we get united; united against the common enemy that has for long deprived us the benefit of our society; this in essence is poverty in its real form. As an anonymous quote has once put it “poverty does not imply the absence of money alone. It is that condition of life, which prevents an individual from having the benefits of his own society and from fulfilling the possibilities that lie within him.”

The value of life is absolute, with noconcessions. It's not negotiable.
