Electricity & Security: The Two Major Problems Facing Nigeria by Olumyco(m): 12:09am On Feb 06, 2019
The best way to tackle the problems facing Nigeria is to tackle it gradually from very critical problems to less critical problems.

Many of our Leaders are getting it wrong in this country. How can you be talking about education, agriculture and so on when the issue of electricity is still pending? How can we be talking of foreign investors, tourism and co when the country is not safe? One Yoruba adage says, "if many trees fall on one another, the one lying on top of others is the one to be removed first".
We need to tackle issues based on priority and ensure one is solved before moving to another. Trying to solve many problems at once is not helping. We have had 7 point agenda in this country, where did it take us to? We have had a lot of campaign promises in this country by our so called Presidents but what great change have we experienced? I think its high time our leaders dismissed the idea of tackling too many problems at a time. Let a leader fix electricity and Security and see whether our economy will not boom. Fix these two things and see whether corruption will not decrease. In fact if we can have someone who will come and solve our electricity problem only. I mean let him leave other things and focus on Just electricity alone throughout his/her tenure and see whether Nigeria will forget such a leader. Infact the person has automatically won him or herself second term. What are we saying, we want electricity problem fixed in this country. The shame is too much. If we can plan our budget to be solely for Electricity and Security in a year leaving out other projects, I believe things will improve. If the second year the duo project is not completed, we again budget for it solely. We keep doing this until we have 24 hours power supply and 80% to 90% safety in the country.

Its unfortunate that our presidential candidates are repeating this same mistake. Its not the number of projects you want to do or carry out that matters but being able to fix the most critical of our problems on which other problems depends.

The problems can be fixed in twos or just one at a time. I believe Electricity and Security can be budgeted for alone and then after Education,Agriculture, Refinery, Health etc.

Electricity and Security problems are peculiar and critical. We need to fix these two first. Other problems are depending on it. We Nigerians are ready to sacrifice road construction, building of flyovers, building of railways, building of stadiums, building of markets, renovating of schools and so on for fixing of electricity and security challenges in our country. We can still manage the ones we have now. Just face the building of power plants, buying of electricity equipment, buying of weapons, recruiting and training of security personnel and so on. All we want is for the country to witness 24 hours power supply and 80% - 90% Safety. This will make life convenient for us. Our Education system will improve as there will be lights to carryout experiments in our laboratories. Students will be able to read at any time. The cost of production will reduce as people will no more be using Generators again. Many businesses will be revived. A lot of SMEs will kicks off. Our GDP will shoot up big time. Also people will be able to run their businesses without fear till anytime because there will be no security threats around. Foreigners will be happy and bold to come to Nigeria for tourism which indirectly will boost our economy. Foreign investors will also be confident to come into the country to come and invest. We will even be able to bid for World Cup and host it. Insults from other countries will reduce.
So many things will change for better. Fighting corruption is easier with preventive measures powered by technology. 24 hours electricity will help in this area as the digital devices to cub corruption will successfully run on power without being affected with power failure.
If Nigeria can overcome her Electricity and Security challenges many Nigerians abroad will return home. Nigeria will become very good and habitable.

I wish any of the presidential candidate who will enter in the forth coming election can do this. The person's name will automatically be written on the sand of times and his name will forever linger in minds of people.

Thanks.

Corruption can easily be solved when these two things are fixed. Leadership is to make these two things happen.
