It's quite frustrating when you do everything they asked you to do: You create a good profile picture (where you give a wide smile), you sign up on freelancer, fiverr, or upwork, you apply for jobs; however, clients don't just call back.

The reason why you are not getting jobs is that you are doing what the white man has advised you to do. The average white person living in the United States of America will most likely get jobs if he creates a great profile and applies for jobs. The reason for this is that the white man trusts his fellow white men. He would rather give a job to his own people because he trusts his own people. This is the summary.

When it comes to writing, U.K freelance writers are preferred, U.S writers come after U.K writers. Non-English speaking natives are not preferred. African writers fall in the category of non-English speaking natives and we are the least preferred of the least. We are like writer-goats: we can never get good jobs from freelance platforms.
When it comes to tech, India freelance tech providers are preferred (they have proven to be masters of everything tech); U.K and U.S follows. Africans are not trusted with tech-projects (we are like tech-goats).
Because freelance is an on-line thing, it is highly based on trust, and it is difficult for a Nigerian to gain the trust of a white man. It is even difficult for an African American to gain the trust of a white.
Get a good phone.
Get very good internet.
Get a location changer app (like Zenmate- and you have to pay)
Get an international number (Telos provides international numbers- you have to pay of course).
Set your location to U.K if you are a writer, and to U.S if you are a tech-guy.
Register on Fiverr and Upwork.
Get a valid U.K address for Upwork (ask your uncle, aunt, friend, or friend's friend - if you do not have any valid U.K address, forget upwork)

I like how you break this topic down. I must say you understand what it really means to make money online in Nigeria as freelancer because a lot of people will give up after a few weeks of trying.
