Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso has thanked people of Kano state over their impressive turn out at PDP rally
- PDP had on Sunday, February 10, took its presidential campaign to the ancient town of Kano
- Kwankwaso, who was a former chieftain of APC, said the the ruling party would be defeated at the polls
The senator representing Kano central, Alhaji Rabi’u Kwankwaso, has commended Kano residents for their massive turnout during the PDP presidential campaign rally held at the Sani Abacha stadium on February 10.
Legit.ng reports that Kwankwaso made the commendation while addressing Islamic scholars who paid him a courtesy visit at his personal residence in Kano on Thursday, February 14.
He said he was very happy about the people's massive turn out during the PDP's presidential campaign in the state.

“I want to use this opportunity to commend and thank Kano people for coming out en masse to attend the presidential rally of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Sunday, February 10.
“During the occasion, only God knows the number of people or youths that fainted at the Sani Abacha stadium where the rally took place,” he said.
Kwankwaso, who was a former governor of Kano state, said that the massive turnout of people during the rally was a clear testimony that Kano people “are for the PDP.’’
He advised Islamic scholars in the state to avoid delving into politics instead they should maintain their status as religious leaders whose responsibility was to advise leaders on how to enhance good governance.
He said: “We expect Islamic scholars to maintain their status as religious leaders as politicitisation of religious can be inimical to Nigeria’s democracy.
“It is expected of religious leaders when they see something wrong, they advise leaders in position of authority to correct the wrong.
“It is our belief that with good and meaningful advises from religious leaders will ensure good governance for the development of our state and the country.''
He called on the people of Kano to vote for PDP candidates at all levels, adding that electorate should be able to use their conscience to elect credible candidates and leaders with foresight.
Earlier, Sheik Nasiru Kabara, who spoke on behalf of the Islamic scholars that cut across all sects, pledged their support for Atiku Abubakar and Abba Kabir-Yusuf, the PDP presidential candidate and Kano state governorship candidate respectively.
He said that their decision to support the party's candidates was based on the achievements recorded by the administration of the former governor of the state.
“All Imams and other Islamic scholars in the state are solidly behind the PDP candidates in the state'', he said. (NAN)

The leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, has called off the election boycott order he had issued his supporters in the South East.Mazi Kanu, in a statement by IPOB’s Media and Publicity Secretary, Emma Powerful, said due to “our terms and conditions had been met by those wishing us to lift the ban on voting, it was unanimously agreed that the boycott should be lifted.”
Kanu had issued the boycott order, saying there would not be election in the south-east until the federal government conducted a referendum.
Kanu, who is wont of giving orders to his supporters during election and as well as declaring sit-at-home orders to IPOB members to underscore the group’s demand for a referendum, Friday, recanted on his earlier boycott order.
kanu had, last year, vanished from Nigeria after the military launched an exercise code-named Operation Python Dance (Egwu Eke) which saw the troops attacking the home of the Biafran leader.
The group had claimed that their leader, who went underground for over six months, was killed by the military only for him to surface in Israel, alive.
Since he issued the boycott order, condemnations had trailed his order, especially from the Igbo apex Socio-cultural group, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, who had urged him to call off the order.
However, just few hours to the election day, th IPOB leader and his group called off the boycott order, saying some conditions it gave were met. The group said all the terms and conditions it gave those wishing it to call off the order had been met.
In the statement by the group’s spokesperson, it said in due course, it would made public the document of the agreement it signed with those who urged it to call of the boycott order.
The statement partly reads thus: “It’s important we notify the world at large and the indefatigable global IPOB family in particular that our supreme leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu has called-off the election boycott in Biafraland.
“After a brief emergency session of the Directorate of State late last night, presided over by our leader, it was determined that all our terms and conditions had been met by those wishing us to lift the ban on voting, it was unanimously agreed that the boycott should be lifted.
“The signed document agreeing to IPOB terms and conditions are in our possession and will be made public in due course.
“We can, therefore, state with utmost sense of responsibility and pride that IPOB has accomplished what no other people or group has been able to do in the history of our people. Without prejudice, this will go down as the defining moment when the irreversibility of the restoration of Biafra was firmly entrenched in the subconscious of all and sundry. As a result of which we can state categorically that Biafra is a lot closer than we think as a result of this.”

Let’s be realistic.
The margin between Buhari and Atiku in Kano can not be less than 1 million.
You and me know the winner

Even though I have boarded the "NEXT LEVEL" train I have to commend Kwankwaso for pulling such a huge crowd for Atiku.
He is indeed a party man even after Atiku bribed his way to victory during the PDP primaries, Kwankwaso still supports him. If not for Kwankwaso Atiku wouldn't have gotten such crowd at his rally in Kano.

If it Kwankwaso was PDP flag bearer I would have gladly joined the "red cap movement" but instead PDP brought someone that was involved in the selling of NEPA so that he could start his Generator (Mikano) business in Nigeria. Never will Atiku be our President
