President muhammadu buhari has expressed shock over the decision of inec to postpone elections initially scheduled to hold today.

He said inec had earlier assured him of their readiness for the polls and that the presidency had also made available everything needed for a free, fair and credible election while they also ensured that they did not interfere in the process except to ensure all funds were released for the process.

The president went on to urge the commission to make sure that materials distributed were safe at this time to ensure free and fair election and also to guide against a repeat of the flaws that led to the postponement.

He re-affirmed his commitment to nation building and indepence of the judicial system at this moment stating that everyone nigerian a stakeholder.

He further adviced Nigerians to remain civil, patriotic and united to ensure that no force or conspiracy derail our democratic development.

President buhari's spokesperson announced that president Buhari has returned to Abuja to await the briefing by the inec chairman, Prof mahmood yakubu

In the same vein, the director for strategic communication, Apc presidential campaign council, Festus Keyamo SAN, released a statement earlier today on behalf of the committee, stating that the news was received by great disillusionment and disappointment.

He condemned the move by the electoral commission in the strongest terms possible.
