INEC Should Be Moved From Presidency To The Judiciary by SluttanSlayer: 10:07am On Feb 17, 2019 |
Election petitions are decided by the Judiciary The CJN is who administers the oath of office to elected executives at both the gubernatorial and presidential swearing in ceremonies INEC at both the federal and state levels must be headed by members of the judiciary who will be appointed exclusively by members of the judiciary council without inputs from the presidency. Individuals appointed by the Judiciary council will undergo screening by the Senate. INEC will not be responsible for voter registration and issuance of PVCs. A national identification should be formed which will be located in every LGA who will be responsible for registering and issuance of a valid voters card . The voters register will only be in the hands of INEC. 2 Likes |

SluttanSlayer: EXACTLY! The problem of calling them "Independent" when they are not should be addressed by moving them to Judiciary where elections are not held for it's members. 2 Likes |

Very funny rubbish. Can someone remind this olodo, the difference between judiciary and executive. The job of INEC is to execute an election. Get that into your thick skull 1 Like |

In many true democracies, important organs of their national way of life and put under the Judicial branch of government. Think of the FBI in the United States. They know a President or his associates could never truly be investigated except the FBI were under the Judicial branch of government. The only way Nigeria can be great is when elections are credible. The tragedy of the Nigerian situation is that even if we make all the advances because we had decent men as Presidents, it takes only one undemocratic person as president to rubbish the years of progress made. Therefore, we must institutionalize progress by making sure it is beyond the reach of whoever becomes President. That is why for INEC to become truly "Independent" it has to be under the Judicial branch of government. 1 Like |
