Panic gripped residents after the corpse of a young lady was discovered along Umuobasi Afara road in Umuahia, Abia state capital.

A resident disclosed that they woke up in the early hours of Friday to see the lifeless body along the road as it was alleged that the deceased might have been strangled to death and dumped in the street by her assailants.

Police officers later arrived the scene and removed the corpse which was deposited in a mortuary within the state capital.

The police revealed that it would investigate what led to the death of the deceased.
