The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has announced that it has cancelled the elections in Rivers LGA. The cancellation of the election at the Bonny Local Government Area, was as a result of the failure of elections to hold there.
Recall that, earlier in the day, iDONSABI.com reported that some voters and NYSC members were shot to death, including a nursing mother who was pierced by a bullet. – Click here if you missed it.

In a statement revealed by INEC, the elections in the area would now hold on another date to be set by the commission.

The decision to postpone the election was also as a result of the protest of the All Progressives Congress, APC, whose members were seen blocking and stopping INEC officials from leaving the office.
