Nigerians from all over the country trooped our in their millions on Saturday, the 23rd of February 2019 to cast their ballot in the rescheduled Presidential and National Assembly elections. A total of 73 presidential candidates took part in today’s election, where the incumbent President Muhammadu Buhari of the APC and ex-Vice President Atiku Abubakar of the PDP are seen as "major contenders".

All of Nigeria’s 109 Senate seats and 360 House of Representative seats are up for grabs across the 36 states and Abuja. A total of 1,904 candidates are taking part in the senatorial elections while 4,680 are seeking seats in the House of Representatives. The election was however marred by incidences of violence and thuggery that led to the disenfranchisement of voters in several parts of the country. This happened despite assurance from security agencies that none of such will be witnessed in the course of the election, assuring the voters to come out and vote....
