1. You have to deliberate about reading and set targets:
Every time one is not deliberate about reading, focus is lost quickly and fatigue sets in. Being deliberate simply means planning for it, reading should be planned, that’s what makes it has to be deliberate; setting up the place, time and books to read. This goes a long way to keep your concentration on reading for a long time because you have programmed your mind for that purpose. Along with being deliberate is working with set goals. In every reading one must have set goals which must be accomplished within a certain time. Taking into consideration your environment, the books and everything around you as well as your reading speed, you can allocate time to every reading target you have as it will aid you in reading for long hours without losing concentration. Being deliberate about reading and planning with set goals are crucial to your reading stamina.

2. Read in the right environment:
Environments also affect our reading stamina, being in the right environment can enhances and improves one’s reading stamina; reading for long hours without losing concentration. The next question would be: “what is the right environment ?” The right environment entails the environment one takes delight in reading, for example a student likes reading with music, that’s his/her environment, another may just like silence, that’s his/her environment. You don’t pick your environment base on anything but yourself, what you enjoy when you read and it enhances your reading. Being in the right environment is of great importance as it goes a long way to aid your reading. It can be likened to being in a place one is comfortable and another that is not comfortable; which do you think will enjoy himself/herself? And of course, the one enjoys himself/herself will last longer in such environment.

3.Know and work with your reading ability:
Everybody does not possess same reading abilities. As we have different faces and names so also our reading abilities are different. Some are slow readers, others may be fast readers while some others could be faster. When you are very aware of your reading ability, it makes you plan effectively. By context here, ability of reading entails how fast you understand as you read. You must work with your reading ability in other to be efficient in reading, as a philosopher once said, “man know thyself “. One being a fast reader may choose to study off his/her environment which is wrong but still meet up with his/her targets stipulated but this will not work for a slow reader.

Do not follow the crowd:
Many students today are moved and influenced by the “crowd”. Let’s see what being moved by the crowd means; doing things because others or a particular person is doing it. No, this is totally wrong and unhealthy in reading, as it will limit you to the ” crowd’s” reading ability not yours. For example after examining yourself, you discovered you cannot read at night, as not everyone enjoys reading at night, because your friends or course mates reads at night always and they are being applauded for it doesn’t mean you should follow that path because it will yield little or no result, if necessity demands it, fine but if not, do not be moved by the crowd, but be moved by yourself for yourself because you are the one that know yourself.

Know your dislikes and likes in reading;
Everyone has his/her best reading books and courses and as a student we don’t get to study at our convenience all the time, there must be a shift and we must move along that shift if we are to thrive through as a student. Of course as a student, you must know your best books and courses, it is advisable you read such courses at the certain times a “shift” comes up.
