Igbo Presidency In 2023 Dicey – APGA Chairman by sarrki(m): 7:49am On Mar 01, 2019
The National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, Dr Victor Oye, has said going by the pattern of voting in the Saturday’s presidential poll in the South-East, the possibility of the Igbo producing the President of the country in 2023 is dicey.

The South-East geopolitical zone voted overwhelmingly for the Peoples Democratic Party in the election.

Speaking at a press conference on Thursday in Amawbia, near Awka, the Anambra State capital, Oye blamed the Igbo for always putting their “eggs in one basket.”

He said the Igbo should stop playing politics of emotions and face what he called the “reality of the country’s monolithic political structure.”

He said, “For me, I believe the Igbo play more of politics of emotion than politics of pragmatism. They are not realistic; they always pander to emotionalism.

“Everything to them is all about a particular interest. Once they make up their mind to go towards a particular direction, that is where a sizeable number of them will go.

“So, I’m not optimistic about 2023 Igbo presidency going by what has happened now.”

He said the Igbo should come together as a people to discuss their common interest.

He added, “Their common problem is unity. They cannot always come together and they are easily swayed by extraneous things as demonstrated in the last two elections of 2015 and 2019.

“Igbo should realign themselves and re-determine the options before them.

From what happened last Saturday, the Igbo people worked as a team; but in the end, they lost. They won the battle and lost the war.

“ They asserted themselves, showing they can make things happen. It shows that if they pool their resources together and work under one political party, they will make more foray.

“Ndigbo need to play at the national level and not ethnocentric regional politics, knowing that Nigeria is a monolithic political structure.”

Lol. This guy has hit the nail on the head. "The Igbos should stop playing politics of emotions..."
No sane Nigerian would vote for an Igbo candidate IF the sentiments expressed by their sons and daughters online is anything to go by. The sheer amount of arrogance, ignorance, bile, hatred and downright animosity towards EVERYONE who they see as opposed to their views far outweigh any political goodwill the actions of the few rational ones could buy an Igbo presidential candidate in the near future. It's actually pathetic. The average Igbo man was hitherto known as an achiever, a go-getter. However, these new breed of online tribal touts seem to have been so effective at divisive politics of hatred and tribal bigotry that it's overshadowing the fact their elders are beginning to gradually see the need for inclusive politics as reflected in the recent presidential electoral results.

Problem of Nigeria so far is not about where the President comes from, is purely corruption which has eaten to deep into Nigeria's DNA.

No country prospers with such high rate of corruption. U ever wondered why China, or Korea etc proscribed capital punishment on corruption? It's deadlier than hiv, cancer etc to any society.

That said, lets be real here, was it fulani that spent the Imo State budgets on Statues, or Abia State budget on famy biz?

The most corrupt set of people in Nigeria are ibos. An average ibo man doesn't like to woo ladies, they simply buy her expensive gifts, wears etc for the mum of d lady to have their way.

All the ibo Senate presidents so far have been massively indicted. e.g Adolfus Wabara, Ken etc. An average ibo man thinks that money can buy anything including attempting to bribe their way to heaven or buy off sins. Reason they are better in giving in churches. No let Ibo man pay offering o hmm.

Point is, u only deceiving yourselves thinking Ibo presidency will be better.

It's something the yorubas won't all.. the northerners won't even vote for an ibo as president, it'll be better if the start with a VP position first then push their interest from there, then in the next 8 years after that we can have an ibo president

What do you expect from people playing politics with emotions..I said this same thing to my igbo neighbour days ago..THEY NEVER LEARN! grin
Always crying about being sidetracked when its way obvious their greed and possessive attitude is so obvious..Its always about them before we hear pim dem go dey shout igbo kwenu grin...Thats the issue with them...Only few of them very few reason without emotions and hatred. Some of them were even crying on twitter of not being awarded a major political position in lagos...Una wan be oba of lagos? grin As if a yoruba man can hold a political position in their region cool Even with all the hate speech they still hold and are awarded top positions in lagos.. cry
We just trying to help them cause the way things are going there is likely to be war come 2023..What do I know? A lot of them said majority of them aint interested in Nigerian politics.
Obafemi said they were civilized and more educated for coalition which didnt happened, they later attacked the west he had no choice but to turn against them up till today they hated him for that grin
SL Akintola said they aint loyal and cant be trusted grin
Who was right I dont know you tell me..

those tribalistic goons can never change, they hate everything that's not igbo and they even hate themselves, it's only amongst them that you hear some people are more igbos than others, see the case of the igbo priest that was removed because he was not from a particular locality, they are mostly Christian but hate like the devil. Now they have missed out on 2023 because of hate instead of them to play politics with sense. Always feeling the country owes them a huge debt. Anyways what do I know.. oya haters come do your work.

Igbos should go and collect presidential ticket from the party they gave 81% of their votes. As it stands SW ACN Cacus of Apc already have the presidential ticket in their kitty. Buhari Cpc cacus of Apc will get VP Slot.while SS pdp cacus of Apc gets senate president.
