I want all the Smart people to come in here let's discuss this.
I saw an article online about making it from a poor back ground read and learn.
To be really honest, it is difficult. Depending on where you are in the world, in veers between challenging to almost impossible. To gain wealth from poverty, there have to certain qualities that you must possess. I am not saying that you need absolutely every one of them, but it helps to have most of them.

Firstly, you need to equip yourself with the tools of having an education. Knowledge is always the foundation to success. Stupid people may rise with the tide, but they get dashed on the rocks. It is a reality that lifelong learning is a must.

Secondly, you need to equip yourself with the right values. It is important to be hardworking, but if hardwork alone made people wealthy, a lot of people in poorer nations around the world would be the wealthiest. You need to develop an analytical mind in order to see the way of the world as it really is, to see opportunities before others do, and to identify threats before they arise.
You need to be absolutely focused and ruthlessly efficient in what you do. This does not mean you stab people in the back, or put others down, because those values lose you access to people and damage your reputation. Do what it required without sentiment. But do not go out of your way to make unnecessary enemies.

Thirdly, you must understand that there is no point acquiring skills and qualities when no one important knows you. Never wait for opportunity to knock. Find those doors and force them open. This means expending great effort in nurturing a network: these are people who will become your clients, your customers, your investors, your business partners, your brokers and your contractors. Qualify these people and never work with toxic people.

Toxic people are those who do have no credibility. Never work with anyone who cannot keep his word, because even his contracts are worthless.

Even in organised crime, people understand that reputation for reliability is everything. Never work with people who are greedy, because the greedy and the miser can never be satisfied, and that will create problems down the road, particularly when the project or business has begun to make money. Never work with the stupid and the indiscreet, because they will get you in trouble with the law, even if you have done no wrong, merely by implication.

The greatest skill required to succeed is the ability to market yourself subtly, to be credible and knowledgeable without being flamboyant. This is how you grow your network.
That means spending time in volunteer organisations and welfare organisations. These are places where the people at the top are from the higher echelons of society. Rich people get involved in foundations and causes to get tax breaks, to assuage the guilt of their prosperity, or to genuinely give back to society. They are the only people who have the financial means to volunteer in these places in an extended capacity, because normal people have jobs, and struggle to make ends meet.

Also, these organisations are often part of vote banks and make excellent photo opportunities for politicians. Just as politicians and policy makers like to bask in the reflected glory of those who volunteer, some people volunteer to have access to policy makers and politicians. This is the easiest way to quietly slip yourself into the corridors of power if you are not born into it.

Social mobility is a challenge because it takes the most driven to do it. But to acquire power, there has to be a plan, and people who have made it normally do not put out manuals about how they did it.

Associate with wealthy people and do more brain work than physical work. Never flaunt the little you have while climbing the ladder and be selfish to poor people who depend on you.
