In contrast to sympathy and apathy which according to Merriam Webster dictionary, it defines them as "the feeling that you care about and are sorry about someone else trouble, grief" and "the feeling of not having much emotion or interest " respectively.

Empathy on the other hand, is "the feeling that you understand and share another persons experiences and emotions"

The significance of developing this trait cannot be
Overshadowed as it helps to solidify and strengthen the communication and relationship between individuals and or groups. However, diving into the abyss of the importance of empathy, ill simply just state few things that can make empathy count.

LISTENING: Just like the difference between looking and seeing, no doubt there is a similar contrast between hearing and listening. we hear so many things but only listens to what is quite important to us. Recently, I read an article on medium emphasising on doing more listening than talking. The truth about empathy is, we really need to listen to people on their matter or issues meticulously. Listening to get the necessary point and fact more important than wanting to comment at every single opportunity which signals our concern for talking than listening.

ATTENTION: There is a lot of distractions these days and our mobile gadget tops the list amongst others. So apart from listening, we need to conscientiously pay attention to the person. Stop fidgeting around with things. If we need to reply an urgent message or pick a call, we can kindly take an excuse and do that. This is very much better than just doing other things and telling the person to ride on that you're paying attention. The possibilities are that if s/he does not say anything, they'll definitely have reservations.

COMFORTING COMPLEMENT: After patiently listening while paying attention, then you also need to comment on what they have said so far. Your comment must give them relief even if you had experienced more worst scenarios before them. You need to tell them you understand how they feel even if truthfully, the only one who truly does is someone who have experienced something similar. Comfort, comport and complement their mood with something better and that, they'll feel better and relieved.

After observing these, most certainly it will help you with the following.

*Gives the person more openness to relate matters.

*They'll trust and respect you which one should be uphold.

*It helps develops a customer service relation even when one is no marketer.

*Problem solving skill sharpened

*Help build more confidence in you and the zeal to help others

*Improves the communication skills

Empathy therefore must be part of our folders for personal development. What are you waiting for?, wear the kimono of empathy and see how happy you'll feel on the long run.

See you around.
