israelmao: Because if Bubu completely removed subsidies, fuel would be selling at 200 and above. And the kind of riots that happened under GEJ in 2012 would be small compared to what would happen in that situation. Nigerians don't want subsidies removal. Despite the long term benefits What Buhari did was temporary. At the time he raised prices, fuel was selling at 87 naira. Import cost was 132 naira. We were not earning enough revenue from oil. So, Bubu raised prices to 145, ending subsidy till landing costs went up to 150 and above, forcing the reintroduction of subsidy as under recovery 1 Like |

There is something they call price differentials and petroleum equalization fund (PEF) in the industry. People were plainly ignorant and stupid for believing Buhari would remove subsidy. Truth is, no GOVERNMENT can! Subsidy will only stop when the people are ready to buy fuel per litre @ N100 in Lagos and N500 in Zamfara or Kogi. Marketers who risk their lives and trucks to transport fuel from Apapa zone to Idumota cannot sell at same price with those moving from Apapa zone to Zamfara. The people have continued to suffer in ignorance because they choose lies over sincerity. Until we are ready to embrace the truth and also hand over to the private sector, NOTHING will change! And YES! There is massive fraud in the industry. People buy trucks, move no goddamn fuel, and get paid by the government! When a government decides to pay truck owners for transporting fuel from Apapa to any part of the country, what do y'all expect o? Government pay per kilometre o Very sweet money!! Buyers at filling stations pay for fuel, and then government still decides to pay even more to cover transportation costs, wetin una expect? Two things to have in this fraudulent country are trucks and Banks (even if na Microfinance Bank). 1 Like |

As Nigerians we never focus on issues to solve it and get it right once and for all. And when someone raises a solution that we don't understand, we get sentimental and tribalistic. The corrupt nature of the common Nigerian who will be employed to run government establishments like Nnpc and all it's attending value chain will ensure that we never move forward. Hence in sane climes government has no hand in business. Government must deliberately chose to allow private investors to step in to the various sectors of our economy or else our ministries the minister and the employed staff in these ministries will become one big agency of corruption. |

EastGold: It appears EFCC only serves two interests: - The presidency. (Who is the presidency?) - Foreign interests, particularly the United States. If a person's activities do not go against the presidency, or against foreigners (US citizens in particular), EFCC will 'see no evil and hear no evil'. |

The regulatory agencies and bodies are the major problem to this issues. How many times do they do their route check on this filling Station across the Nation? In addition, conspiracy is another factors - when they need money they call upon the filling station association president that they are coming for weighing and measurements of their products. Some filling Station will shot down their sales for some hours. After the whole exercise they will resume sales again. So who is deceiving who. |
