The PDP Gubernatorial Candidate in Nasarawa State Rt. Hon. David Emmanuel Ombugadu AKA Davematics has formally dropped his ambition to be Governor of Nasarawa State to support his kinsman Hon. Labaran Maku.

Ombugadu a two term House of Rep. member bow to pressure from the Eggon Cultural Development Association and other organs of the Eggon people including the Women and Youth wing. The traditionalist council (Azilli) are the first to officially adopt Labarana Maku. This is coming after series of endorsement from different quarters including CAN in Nasarawa North and Nasarawa West Senatorial Districts.

The need for adoption became necessary given the fact that the Eggon people have never been given the chance to Govern the state despite their population and level of education and vast involvement in politics.

In 2015, Labaran Maku and erstwhile Minister of FCT and 7th Senate member Sen. Solomon Ewuga battled for the ticket under PDP but were rigged out in a gang-up against them in favour of a least popular candidate. Labaran Maku thus left the PDP and contested under APGA and performed optimally. According to reports, Labaran Maku won 8 LGAs in the 2015 elections on to be rigged out in favour of the incumbent Governor Almakura.

Labaran Maku seem to enjoy a wide support base across the state because he maintain his connection to the grassroots despite loosing out in 2015. Hw was the only elite that was criticizing Almakura's administration.

It is everywhere in the news. PDP has officially lost Nasarawa State. Do you know that PMB has never won election in Nasarawa till this time Do you know that APC now have 3 Senators and 3 HoR members against the 1 Senator and 2 HoR they have before? That means PDP lost 2 Senators an 1 HoR member. Before now, the NSHA had 23 PDP Members, as we speak, they have just 3, matter of fact the 3rd guy left for APC (Godiya Akwashiki -the Senator-Elect that was molested last week). Aside that, the PDP guy is so empty and have nothing to offer the people of Nasarawa. While in other states other political parties steps down for PDP, in Nasarawa it is APGA that other parties are stepping down for.

It is too late to step down at this point. If the story is true at all, PDP would still remain on the ballot. The stepping down should have taken place a long time ago. PDP should also have reconciled with Labaran Maku long before the party primaries and given him the party ticket. Davematics and Maku going into the contest on different platforms is an automatic win for A .A. Sule. As it stands, I don’t think APC can be defeated in the state tomorrow.
