Another name for ginger is zingiber, ginger root or rhizoma zingiber.

Biological source of ginger: Ginger consists of dried and scraped rhizomes of zingiber officinale that belongs to zingiberaceae family) which is devoid of it's darker outer skin.

Early in summers, that is March or April, the pieces of rhizomes that possess at least one bud are selected and sown in trenches. The soil is then adequately drained with water. Since the plant consumes nutrients from the soil very quickly, the periodic addition of large amount of manures and fertilizers to the soil is very necessary.
