Dr. Peter Odili, a former Rivers State governor, was the force behind ex-governor now minister, Rotimi Amaechi's emergence and rise in politics. Since Amaechi 'betrayed' his former boss, not much has been heard of Peter Odili. In 2014 in an interview, Odili - a trained medical doctor - stated that,"With all the best intentions, we supported Amaechi's political career and ambition. We thought we did what was best for the state. As you know, until a man has power and has money, you don’t really know him, but that is a story for the future." Going by reports, these days, Peter Odili spends more time in Port Harcourt where he manages his Pamo University of Medical Sciences (PUMS). It's worthy of note that Odili's wife Mary serves as a Justice of the Supreme Court of Nigeria, having been appointed in 2011 an Associate Justice by then President Goodluck Jonathan. Peter Odili will in August 2019 turn 71 years.
