Former military President Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida yesterday met with members of his campaign team on Monday in Abuja and said no amount of blackmail or political pressure would stop him from contesting in the 2011 presidential elections.
In a meeting with top campaign officials expected to be named today (Wednesday) as state coordinators of the IBB Presidential Campaign Team, the former military leader said there was no going back on his intention.
"The list of the IBB state coordinators is ready and besides few corrections that may be effected this night, the list of state coordinators that are to serve as arrowheads in the 36 states, and Abuja, is ready," a source in the organisation said.
Babangida, at the meeting, said he is in the race and will not drop the ambition for any reason.
"We are in this project for Nigeria. It is not about Jonathan, not about North or South, but about Nigeria. We are absolutely committed to the project and we will not drop it for any reasons.”
The source said Babangida assured his team of success at the primaries and the actual polls, saying “there is no difficulty whatsoever.
“As my campaign coordinators, I will always like to keep track of your activities in the various states and to assess the level of progress in the realisation of our campaign," IBB was quoted to have said.
