Imo Gov election: Uche Nwosu blows hot, vows to recover his ''stolen mandate''
The governorship candidate of the Action Alliance in Imo state and son in-law of incumbent governor, Rochas Okorocha, Uche Nwosu, has rejected the results of the Imo Governorship elections and has vowed to challenge it in court.
Speaking to Channels TV this morning, Nwosu who lost the election to PDP’s Emeka Ihedioha, said he will be heading to court to recover his stolen mandate.

”I will take my mandate back. The law is clear on the requirements for declaring somebody as a winner in an election. The law required that to be declared a winner, you have the mandatory spread of 25 per cent win in at least two-thirds majority. In this case, two-thirds of the 27 local government areas of the state is 18 and Ihedioha has 25 per cent spread in only 12 local government areas whereas I have in 15. So it’s clear that INEC has compromised.

It is the federal constitution. It is not an Uche Nwosu constitution neither is it an Action Alliance Constitution. It is very clear in the constitution in article 179 that you cannot be declared winner unless you meet up the criteria. You (Ihedioha) have not met the criteria and you are being declared winner? Under whose authority? We believe in Nigerian judiciary that justice will take place but what I have to state is that the mandate of Action Alliance in Imo has been robbed” he said

If this is true, the courts will waste no time in upturning the election.

Story for the gods.

The 25% is not just between AA and PDP.

It's all about the percentage total votes among all the political parties that contested the election.

So you get the total votes received by PDP, AA, APC, APGA, YPP, ADC, Put them together and see what percentage that of PDP will give you.

They have won the election.

Lawyers over to you.

That will further lower the PDP percentage bcoz you are increasing the base in the division

Its the same thing, its even worsening the case.to get the right percentage, the electoral law says one must add total votes cast by all parties and then calculate for each party.for instance in isu lga, total votes recorded by all parties is 17000.pdp got 2000 while 25% is 4250.no lawyer will argue this differently except fake lawyers.

You mean owerri zone decided ? If it was a general decision, the victory would have been overwhelming, across all local governments like we had in kwara and oyo state.nwosu even had more spread.

APGA Rejects Imo Governorship Election Result, Demands Fresh Poll

The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has rejected the result of last Saturday’s governorship election in Imo State.

Imo APGA Publicity Secretary, Alphonsus Eberendu, described the exercise as a “sham and mockery of democracy” while addressing reporters on Tuesday in Owerri, the state capital.

He alleged that the election was marred by monumental irregularities, adding that it was the worst in the history of the state since its creation.

Eberendu said his party had called for the cancellation of the entire election on the basis that it did not meet all the constitutional requirements.

He also asked the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to reverse the declaration of the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mr Emeka Ihedioha, as the winner of the election.

According to the APGA spokesperson, the PDP candidate failed to meet the constitutional requirement of 25 per cent of total votes cast in two third of the state.
