Taking chances

Chapter One

As she lay on the bed, she shut her eyes, her heart was racing, how did i get here? she asked, everthing happened so fast. Tommoro is her big day and she could not help but wonder if she was about to make the right decision, she was indifferent about the whole event. She knew she was taking a leap of fate but who knows, things might turn out in her favour, she barely knew her groom.
Keji was a young girl in her early twenties, she recently completed her higher education when the talk about marriage filled the atmosphere. She has a typical African parents who beleives that a woman earns more respect in her husband's house. Keji is an ambitious, hardworking lady, her family and friends spoks highly of her and she is not deficient in her looks either. She is tall with a shapely figure and imp-thin body.

The groom was a neighbour back in her childhood days who always showed up on their door step to fix things around the house, he was the family's handy man. Time passed everyone grew up fast foward to the day she received an unknown call from an anonymous. She was surprised as he introduced himself. She could not help but wonder the reason behind the call. They spoke casually and something seemed to be unusual about the call. They never spoke during those days aside greetings infact, she addressed him as ‘brother' she saw him as an adult figure. The call became frquent and they grew to become friends.

She recounted one of those days when he came to the house for a visit. As the door bell rang, go check whose at the door Keji, ordered her eldest brother. Her elder brother Mike has been friends with Jide since their highschool and they have remained close. They knew each others secret and practically does everything together. Keji hurriedly ran to get the door, she does not want to miss a single moment of her favourite tv show. She opened the door and ran back inside while the visitor allowed himself in, he knows his way into the house. Her elder brother Mike had sent for him when he noticed there was power outage at the boys quaters. Keji also remembered that the only conversation they had was when he asked her the level of her education and she replied with a shy smile.

Jide was a young man in his early thirties. He is tall, dark and good looking, introverted and practical. He is talented on all levels and a very ambitious fellow. He had always had an eye for Keji but did not want to overstep his boundaries as it might affect his relationship with the family but Keji on the other hand knew nothing of this. Jide although hardworking and diligent has always known to be short tempered, impatient and unrealistic. These attributes bothered Keji a lot and the duo has always quarelled and had misunderstanding for the past few months infact they cant go a week without quarrel.

Keji was brought back to reality by loud noise of her maid of honour who just arrived at the resort, she barged into the room without remorse ru[color=#000000][/color]shing to give Keji a warm embrace. Keji was all smile being surrounded by her friends from way back. She tried to wave the thought about her groom and live for the moment.
