As a professional in the WASH sector, I'm glad to see issues about water access get the attention they deserve. Millions of Nigerians are without access to safe water and sanitation. Here's to joining hands together to ending it by 2030.

Nigerian land is riddled with boreholes because subsequent governments have failed in carrying out their responsibility of providing safe and drinkable water, the consequences of this are natural disasters in the nearest future.

Majority government schools have no water supply

As important as water is, a 'megacity' like Lagos still has acute shortage of portable water and makes little or no use of the mass body of water surrounding it. Most places in Lagos have no public water, some of the areas get dirty and smelly water, many others make their boreholes, while the borehole water in some places are as good as mud (e.g. Aguda and parts of the Island). The government is also not keying into this natural resources to ease the scourging traffic problem.

All these make me ask myself lots of rhetorical questions: what do I benefit from the government in return for the huge tax and other levies. I provide my security, electricity, transport, water and other needs; I get stucked in traffic day in day out. Its really not about counting huge IGRs!

My actual comment is,Nigerian land is riddled with borehole because subsequent governments have failed in carrying out their responsibility of providing safe and drinkable water, the consequences of this are natural disasters in the nearest future. When land is riddled with many Boreholes without regulations or experts' advice being sought before such activities are carried out, it could be prone to earth tremors or earthquakes.
