I have done my home work for many years and what i found out is that the problem of this nation lies not in corruption but in division..

For many years, our leaders have explored this and used it for their benefit, if am the president today , the truth must be exposed and must be aggressively addressed.. Nigeria needs a formula to unite our people so to fight a common enemy, this formula will lie on

1. Creation of 6 regions with a prime minister - Having 6 regions creates a mini nation within the main nation will easily bind each region and will enhance a healthy competition with other regions.. A prime minister will harmonise governance with the state governors whose powers will be limited to that of a Mayor, this means that the cost of governance will be greatly reduced..

Imagine for example, having different policemen in each region with different uniform and must be from that region, this will easily make known which region with the best and worst police and with the fact that they are from same region, they will be hold full accountable by their people..

The whole idea is a healthy competition, each region will be allowed to map out their economic plan and lobby for international investments.. Saudi Arabia or Qatar might not be comfortable to invest in our power sector but will comfortably invest in NW , imagine if Americans can invest only in SW power, while China invests in that of SE and so on.. We stand to benefit from many countries in terms of investors..

The problem with your comment is what you think investing means.

You think that investment means that someone is going to come and build stuff for you for free...while you don't pay anything for it.

Look, MTN and company came and invested in our GSM sector. Nigerians also did their bit by paying high prices for SIM. (My dad got MTN sim for 10000 in 2003. Needless to say, he still maintains that line!)

Regarding power, the law that set up DISCOS makes them charge bills that are far below the cost price of producing power. As a result, they cannot pay for the power produced by the GENCOS, or raise enough cash for investment in fixing our transmission system

So, the DISCOS are not seeing return in investment, and as a result, we don't have enough money to fix stuff

The problem with you Nigerians is you want everything to be done for you for free. China and company that will come and build stuff for your regions...abi dem go come give una awoof...or no be the same high bills you go pay...if not higher.

Thing is, if we want to see improvement in power, we either face the reality of high prices for power...or we keep on taking loans, and pouring money down the hole that is NIBET....ie subsidy for power....while nothing changes.

As for your six regions thing....won't work. The same issue of marginalization and so on will remain. We have states. You people are not focusing on using them.

Theoldpretender, you have correctly identified the problem with our power sector. Now what is your solution? To increase prices like it was done with GSM?

The Yaradua/GEJ government already tried this by creating the MULTIYEAR TARIFF ORDER (MYTO) System that I believe professor Sam Amadi was in charge of. Prices were to be raised gradually to avoid inflationary pressures on our economy since the price of food and energy are the most volatile to changes in prices.

When the price of crude oil fell in 2014 and the naira had to be devalued all the gains from the increases in price vanished as a result of natural gas priced in USD and Nigerians paying for electricity in naira. Do you propose that the government keep increasing the price to infinity just as they currently do with petrol?

Nigeria Already has the highest number of people living in extreme poverty. Our Human development index is one of the lowest on earth. Our inequality human development index is even worse. Do you feel by simply increasing prices all these issues will just naturally disappear?

I do not mean to be rude but black people like simple solutions to complex problems and these solutions never work that is why our nations remain undeveloped. Black people also do not research deeply so we only understand things that are plain to anyone to see. We don't think deeply.

If we want to solve our electricity and development problems, the first thing the government has to do is restructure the federal civil service and change its focus to quality primary and secondary education, health and security. Any other thing is like pouring water into a basket.

My dear, before the plane you see today started flying, the inventor tried another formula, you Britian you're seeing today, they tried something else to be where they are, as of today, they're still trying another formula to succed..

We need another formula , we shouldn't be scared to try another thing, i say this not only for the nation but for your life as well, doing same thing without result is just madness
