Digital marketing is perhaps the need of the hour for almost every business. However, there are many myths that are doing their rounds in social circles, which apparently gives you the wrong idea about digital marketing.

SEO is a one-time affair

The primary step of digital marketing is to optimize your site. However, many think that it is a one-time process. Once your site is optimized, there are multiple process/exercise that you have to carry out in order to enjoy the final result. If you think that it is a one-time process, then you are not going to make any impact. It is as good as giving a workout to your body. If you give it every day, and you will have a healthy life. If you do SEO exercise properly according to the search engine standards, your site will have healthy growth, so is your business.

Single Strategy

Optimize, building links, index, and repeat. Most of the agencies follow the same exercise for every client. Digital strategy for a service company would be pretty different from that of a product company. Let us take health care and e-commerce for a brief study. A healthcare company's primary stakeholders always go for extensive research, since it is a matter of their health. In order to grab their attention, you need to have in-depth content that can satisfy them. When it comes to an e-commerce site, it is all about how quick you are in grabbing the customers eyeball on multiple platforms. You need to have a different strategy for both.
Since Google makes changes to its search algorithm frequently, you need to put some extra time for your digital marketing strategy in order to make the necessary adjustments.

My competitors are not online. The why should I?

I have heard this question often from small and medium enterprises and tired of explaining to them why they need to be on online.
Let me try explaining again. People have developed a habit of searching for everything on google, even if they want to handpick a product form a supermarket. Before they take a decision they take a look at the reviews, peer reviews, website, and social pages, which reflect the reputation of the product or the company.
Having an online presence is not a choice anymore. It is a mandatory one. It doesn't matter whether your immediate competitors are there or not. What matters most is your audience out there. It is easy for you to engage your audience online. The better you engage, the better will be your conversion rate.

Myth about traffic

What is the purpose of a digital strategy? If you ask this question to many, the answer that you hear the most is to generate traffic. Most people think that more the traffic, more the conversion rate. However, often it does not work that way. Effective digital marketing is a way to ensure your online reputation.
Obviously, it generates traffic. However, what is more, important is how much time the visitor on your website. It clearly depends on the quality of your website, content, and popularity.
Choices are aplenty now. If you don't feed your customers, there are chances that they look for a better option. It is important to manage the online reputation in order to ensure that your customers stay with you. The need of the hour is to engage the customers and ensure brand loyalty.
The primary aim of the digital strategy is to ensure brand presence, engage the customers and build trust. Sales is often a by-product of all these elements.
