Intel Agilex: 10nm FPGAs with PCIe 5.0, DDR5 and CXL Ever since Intel purchased Altera for an enormous amount of money a few years ago (ed: $16.7B), the FPGA portfolio that has been coming out has largely been a product of the pre-Intel days. Today however that changes, as Intel is announcing its first fully Intel-designed FPGA, built upon its own internal 10nm process, with the Agilex brand name.....https://www.xduster.com/intel-agilex-10nm-fpgas-with-pcie-5-0-ddr5-and-cxl/

Intel’s Enterprise Extravaganza 2019: The launching of Cascade Lake, Optane DCPMM, Agilex FPGAs, 100G Ethernet, and Xeon D-1600 Today is the big day in 2019 for Intel’s Enterprise product announcements, combining some products that should be available from today and a few others set to be available in the next few months. Rather than go for a staggered approach, we have it all in one: processors, accelerators, networking, and edge compute. Here’s a quick run-down of what’s happening today, along with links to all of our deeper dive articles, our reviews, and announcement analysis......https://www.xduster.com/intels-enterprise-extravaganza-2019-the-launching-of-cascade-lake-optane-dcpmm-agilex-fpgas-100g-ethernet-and-xeon-d-1600/

Intel demos the 400G, a 400Gbps transceiver for the datacenter Intel has touted the benefits of silicon photonics (mixing optical and electrical parts) for over a decade, and for good reason. It’s intuitive that a signal based on light would move faster, operate a higher density and require less power, but obviously it’s hard to sustain a signal as delicate as light. However, after reaching one million 100G optical transceivers sold per year, Intel is finally dialing up production and preparing to launch the 400G.https://www.xduster.com/intel-demos-the-400g-a-400gbps-transceiver-for-the-datacenter/

Intel readying Xeon Gold U-series to combat Epyc P-series The new CPUs would cost roughly half of Xeon Platinum A report from ServeTheHome claims Intel has the Xeon Gold U-series of CPUs up its sleeve to hold AMD’s Epyc at bay. If true, this is likely a direct response to AMD’s aggressive price/performance ratio with the Epyc P-series in the single socket server market. This is what competition looks like...https://www.xduster.com/intel-readying-xeon-gold-u-series-to-combat-epyc-p-series/
