The UAE-based charity, Sharjah Charity International, in collaboration with the UAE Embassy in Abuja donated a wide-range of medical equipment and children’s toys to the Paediatric Department at National Hospital.

The medical equipment donated will ensure that the Paediatric Department staff has all the necessary tools needed to efficiently execute their roles in caring for sick children, while toys will serve as a distraction for the children dealing with physical ailments.

Medical equipment items donated include drug refrigerators, pulse oximeters, blood glucose devices, blood pressure monitors, thermometers, paediatric stethoscopes, gloves and cannulas which are used for administration of fluids. Various children’s toys donated to the department include play mats, bicycles, walkers, toy instruments, dolls, plastic cars, teddy bears and tricycles.

The United Arab Emirates Ambassador to Nigeria, His Excellency Fahad Al Taffaq visited the hospital to present the gifts and meet with hospital officials including the Chief Medical Director, Dr Jafar Alunua Momoh. H.E was also given a brief tour of the recently renovated Executive private wing of the hospital and the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and the Inpatient Paediatric ward.

This initiative is one of many ways the UAE continues to show its commitment to providing aid and assistance to those in need.

Sharjah Charity International is a voluntary humanitarian group that serves as one of many UAE charities aimed at providing support and aid to vulnerable populations.

The organization was established by His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, a member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, who aimed to launch a charitable edifice with a humanitarian purpose.

It was initially called Charity Association in 1989 before it was amended in 2000 to be named Sharjah Charity. Since then the organization has served 110 countries around the world, and continues to spread the culture of volunteering and humanitarian works in societies.
