Grammy Award is presented by The Recording Academy to recognize achievements in the music industry. The annual presentation ceremony features performances by prominent artists, and the presentation of those awards that have a more popular interest. It is true that we haven’t had a lot of Nigerian Grammy award winners probably because it took the world so long to catch up with our music. For a long time, our songs were not considered or given the deserved attention on global platforms.

Meanwhile, Nigerians in diaspora have been able to break all odds to clinch the award and we will be looking at some of them. Here are some of the Grammy award winners of Nigerian descent you probably don’t know about.

1. Olusegun Olumide Adeola Samuel

Known professionally as Seal, is a singer and songwriter and he has sold over 20 million records worldwide, with his first international hit song, “Crazy”, released in 1991, and his most celebrated song......
