The only thing Atiku and his boss in corruption did to our Telecom sector was unbundled the best telecom company in Africa (NiTEL) sold it's assets to themselves and cronies at ridiculous cheap prices.
This is 2019 EVERY country on Earth has a mobile network carrier, internet and smartphones.

Did we just get mobile carrier, internet and smartphones in 2019 or since 2000
Stick with facts and stop muddling things up for whatever objective you have.

1.Saudi Arabia has less than 15 million people, and produces far more oil than Nigeria does. (Nigeria also has 200million)

2.Saudi Arabia has no significant indigenous industry, relies heavily on importation, and foreign technical staff.

Nigeria could do better...but the oil money we earn is not enough. We need oil at $140 per barrel to run a budget without deficit.

What stop our northern states from investing in modern mechanized agriculture at least to add to the revenue based of the country.

If they were any good, they'd have transformed NITEL into at least an Etisalat (it's state owned by UAE) or ensure MTel is still competing with (or even ahead of) MTN.
So my dear all those two crooks oversaw was destruction.

Too many lies.
Etisalat is not owned by the government of UAE.

Emirates Telecommunication Group Company PJSC – Etisalat was founded in 1976. as a joint-stock company between International Aeradio Limited, a British Company, and local partners.
In 1983, the ownership structure changed – United Arab Emirates government held a 60% share in the company and the remaining 40% were publicly traded.

Ok at least we agreed on the heinous parts the grandmasters of corruption played in our telecm sector. So next time you won't attempt to praise them.
By the way why didn't they retain 60% for federal government also when they sold NiTEL to themselves?

Yes, fuel would be expensive

But there would be investment increase, which means more money for things like refineries which means cheaper fuel prices eventually.

If Atiku and his boss Obasanjo didn’t liberalise the telecoms sector, where will you get the smartphone and internet access to type your uninformed stories

Someone else would have done it. Maybe Yar'adua or Jonathan even Buhari would have done that.
That Obasanjo and Atiku's Administration brought Telecommunication in Nigeria is not a big deal. tell me the country that is not using telecommunications even the most uncivilized corn trees uses it. I rest my case

Stop saying gibberish, telecommunication was a global revolution as at then, even if it was military era,it will be great more Obj era because they won't collect bribe as he and his vp did before allowing them to operate on our shore.

I really pity some PDP supporters whenever they mention telecommunication as their only achievement,

Telecommunication was a global revolution as at then, their only achievement on it was the bribe collected by them which later transferred on the users, but most PDP supporters both literates and illiterates were gullible and uncivilized folks

This is the only thing he is interested in,oil.
Every other thing are irrelevant.

That's why he keeps wasting the Niger Delta oil money on oil exploration in the arid north.

What Obasanjo did when GSM came in 2001 was simple.

He let MTN, and Econet (later V mobile, celtel, Zain, now Airtel), later Glo and etisalat (now 9 mobile) set their own prices.

Back in the day, a SIM card cost 10000 naira. Or more. And calls cost one lots of cash.

Nigerians virtually called for government to subsidize the GSM industry. Government should come and lower prices.

Government refused to listen, which turned out to be a good thing.

Because MTN ET al were making billions from Nigeria, those billions were reinvested back into the Nigerian market, which is why we now have reduced prices for SIM card, and home internet, because the companies were able to reinvest in equipment and supporting infrastructure.

If we did the same for power and fuel, we could see significant changes in the next 5 years. Yes things would be expensive, fuel will cost 300.naira , and power bills for a one bedroom flat would be as high as 20000naira on meter. But there would be profits to be invested in making things better

What is the meaning of the " two holy mosques" in his sentence. So all these dummies where made to believe that Nigeria is a moslem country instead of a secular state. No wonder terrorism has never seize from her door step.

It's a royal title.

Similar to two titles the Queen of England has, who is the ceremonial head of the UK and commander in chief of its Armed Forces.. the titles being Head of the English Church and Defender of the Faith (Christian faith)

If we follow your conclusion, everytime a Nigerian leader meets the queen, Nigeria is being Christianized.

The corruption only makes matters worse.

Those who steal from Nigeria are like thieves stealing 5000 naira from a man with a family of four children who has eleven thousand naira

That is why we must fight corruption unceasingly. We must not tolerate the Gandollars and the Iboris among us

1. NITEL failed because they did not adapt fast enough (Still exists by the way, as an internet service provider...something they should have done)
Also its privatization was botched.
If NITEL had been run properly (and they got into GSM with MTEL...which had cheap rates compared to MTN and econet)...by now it could have been a big player.

2.If you want constant power supply, you have to stop government from setting prices for power.

The current pricing structure means DISCOS can collect only 30% of the actual cost...while govt pays remaining 70%. DISCOS cannot make profits, investment cannot come in, and GENCOS can't get enough money from DIScos to pay gas companies.

But because Nigerians like cheap power too much.....

Anyway, good we are metering the whole country...let's see if this improves revenues.

my bro how can we stop, the government?
these ppl re our problems...

How much oil and mineral resources does Rwanda have

Swiss has no oil... Years back what they have as Natural resources is just Water and Salt.... Maybe now they may have one or two Solid minerals, But they are blessed with functional brains that is why our politricans grin

Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques is equivalent of Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces used to describe a Nigerian president, it is their own highest honour/favourite description of their leader. So a minister saying "custodian of the 2 holy mosques" is referring to the King of Saudi in the most respectful terms.

I salute you, you speak with valid knowledge, most Nigerians speak out of emotions only. Nigeria by all statistics is a VERY POOR country don't know why many can't just see the obvious. Corruption coupled with massive birth rate without plan only made issues worse
