After working so hard to help APC take over power from the then ruling party the PDP, forces within the APC who were not comfortable with the rising profile of the man. These people worked so hard to reduce his influence within the party and minimise his association with the president.
It started with making a choice for Senate president. Tinubu wanted Akume, as soon as he supported Akume, the opponents immediately fronted Lawal, not for the first time, Tinubu bowed to the party choice, perhaps not comfortable with how easy he succumb, some of them went ahead to team with Saraki to reach a deal with PDP, and while they were watching Tinubu's every move, Saraki was able to come from the blind side of everyone to hijack the Senate presidency.
They shifted the battle immediately to the house of rep. Here Tinubu's candidate was Gbajabiamila. Many of those who eventually voted Dogara had nothing against Gbajabiamila other than just to reduce the influence of Tinubu.
Tinubu took it in his strides. Next was Kogi election. Nature took it's course there and Tinubu's Faleye deputed governor candidate did not get the position, instead a certain Yahaya Bello, who probably didn't even vote for APC became governor.
Happy to be winning on all fronts, the battle ground went to the South West, the home zone of the man they call Tinubu. This time, Tinubu put forth a man, as has become usual, the other side arbitrarily choose someone else, who ever it was. It was as if, once Tinubu choose A, these guys would go for B. This particular one was very painful because those who were used to fight Tinubu in this case were those who had majorly benefited from influence, support and projection by Tinubu. They were the once who were to backstab him
In all of these, not once did Tinubu act like a bull in the shop. He kept his cool, made no public statement to suggest that he was unhappy with the situation.

Then APC began to fall apart. Those who supported Saraki began to notice that he was dictatorial and was more of a PDP than an APC. To spite Tinubu, they ended up supporting a clog in the wheel. With Saraki, there was a Dino offspring. Suddenly, APC began to be an opposition party to itself while the PDP which were supposed to be the opposition were involved in a leadership crisis that was about to consume it.
Then, Yahaya Bello has turned out to be one of the worse governor in the history of Nigeria. Everyone now knows that Tinubu would never project someone who cannot deliver in terms of projects and development.

Akheredolu of Ondo state could not even win his state for APC in the last presidential election in what many believe to be his style of leadership in the state.

With the benefit for hindsight, one can that Tinubu was right in a lot of ways and has always had the interest of his party at heart. If Tinubu hadn't stepped in, it was believed that Saraki was on the verge of using Oyegun to hijack the party from PMB with the others watching on the sideline. It was Tinubu who again saved the day.

With the elections over now in 2019, the columnist have started again, trying to repeat the same process as it was in 2015. There has been no day in recent times where there is no statement or the other talking about Tinubu in a manner aimed once again at reducing his influence.

Yet, consistently, the man has always shown that he only wants his party to deliver on the dividends of democracy so that they can have a moral right to request for another mandate in subsequent elections.
