SALARIES RISE AFTER CEO’s WIFE HAS FIRSTBORN DAUGHTER

The wages of employees, especially, women rise after a male CEO’s wife delivers a daughter who is the couple’s first child. Female employees’ salaries grow an average of 1.1% after the birth, compared with a 0.6% gain for males. Past research suggests that men sometimes care more about other people’s wellbeing after having daughters. When male CEO’s have sons, workers’ salaries decline by average of 0.04%.
